I did a read/review for this at ff.net but thought I'd do one here, too...heck, why not? It's a story that bears reading more than once anyway! And you know what a sucker I am for this stuff, and you wrote it so well. I like the emotional content. You show Boromir's humanity, his strength and compassion and his growing fondness for those two rascals. IMO, Truly, Merry and Pippin left their mark on him, or he never would have given his life for them. He knew his city needed him, but he also knew these two were worth the sacrifice of his life. I do not think he had redemption remotely in mind when he did it or he would not have felt he had failed the Fellowship. His sacrifice was one of a man with a truly penitent heart. But I digress! This was well done, truly well done! Thanks for this lovely story. Author Reply: Thank you SO much!! It was so kind of you to read and review the story again here. :) I'm really glad you enjoyed the story, and I love your analysis of Boromir!! I agree with you completely :)

Oh, but I love this one! Excellent! Yes, our Boromir at his best! Author Reply: Thank you, Larner! Boromir is one of my favorite characters and I've always loved his courage and nobility, and of course his protectiveness of the hobbits. I'm so glad you enjoyed this ficlet. Thanks for reading! :)

I think that your Boromir would have made a great Steward if fate (and the Prof) had been kinder to him. Author Reply: Thanks harrowcat, that's a lovely thing to say! I love showing Boromir's noble side, the side that protected the hobbits to the very end.

This is wonderful as is all of your writing. It was good to find a story by you posted here. I've missed your writing. I liked the way Boromir tried to make the hobbits feel safe without misleading them. Lovely. Author Reply: Thanks so much, GW! I've really missed writing too, and it was great to get back to the hobbits again. I'm so happy that you enjoyed this! :)

Love Boromir's idea - it's a wonder that they didn't all get frostbite, but esp. the hobbits. Very thoughtful of him. Gandalf's amusement was cute. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Thanks, Antane! I'm also surprised that the cold didn't give them frostbite. They were very lucky! I'm so glad you enjoyed - thank you! :)

'Boromir likewise sported a hobbit on either side' - had to giggle at this sight! I love the 'sported a hobbit' - OH MY! What a great beginning - can't wait to read more! Bless you for sharing this.... Author Reply: LOL, I'm glad you liked that phrase! Thank you for reading - I'm so happy that you enjoyed! :)
