Memorial Day  by Antane 9 Review(s)
Kara's AuntyReviewed Chapter: 1 on 9/20/2008
I really enjoyed this.
My favourite line was "Couldn't you just make one of Mr Frodo, all shiny like."
That's Sam spot on!
This is a beautiful piece that made me smile.

I especially loved the first couple of paragraphs. I found myself teary-eyed and exclaimed at the beauty of the description of the memorial itself.

It always made me so sad to think that these four stalwart, wondrous Hobbits came home to the Shire in almost oblivion. I know that's the way of things in the Shire... but it still hurt to know these four, especially Sam and Frodo, were saviors of the world.... and yet barely acknowledged in their own land.

I'm glad there was a memorial somewhere to them!!! And what a memorial you made it. Very very nice. I loved the touch of Aragorn to the statues.

It was 'fun' in a way to see Frodo and Sam battling out such an inconsequential thing - after having endured the road to Mordor - bless their sweet love and humility. And I just cried when you wrote that 'it doesn't hurt as much when he holds it.' :-( Sam's temerity in standing up to Frodo and then immediately being nonplussed by it. I had to giggle.

I loved that the people of Gondor flocked to the memorial on the anniversary and showed it to their children and whispered the tale.

Beautiful tale all together. Thank you for sharing it. And I am so sorry for the lateness of this review!

Author Reply: Hey no problem! Wow - thank you for such a lovely, long review! *hugs* I am honored by your tears - and your giggles. Gotta love those hobbits and it is good to know that they were honored by those who understood what happened.

A different vision of such a memorial. I like it. Frodo, all "shiny-like"? Wonderful.

What a perfect tribute, Antane. I'm all teary-eyed... but not all tears are an evil, as we know.

the one thing more stubborn than a Baggins is a Gamgee who is watching over a Baggins

Love it. Thank you for this beautiful little story.

Author Reply: I knew you would like that part! :) Always glad to get a review from you. You honor me with your tears.
