The Cost of Pride  by Ellie 1 Review(s)
AlquawendeReviewed Chapter: 1 on 6/19/2008
This is such a lovely piece, Ellie! Earwen's nervousness and anxiety was perfectly portrayed. The idea that she only became queen at the end of the First Age is new. I've never thought of it that way.
The inclusion that the Noldor, who remained behind, would feel guilt, was very different and I think made this story better. I can't blame them for feeling guilt because they obviously were quite horrified by what happened in Alqualonde. At least Earwen knows that they think of her as their Queen.

Earwen actually became queen before the end of the First Age, but she did not rule by herself until Finarfin left for the War of Wrath. Elves are slow to forget and to forgive, I thkn as well. It would have been hard for them to have a constant reminder of the kinslaying sitting on the throne nad it would have taken courage for Earwen and for the ladies of the court to put everything behind them and go on.

Thanks so very much for reading and reviewing! I am so sorry I missed replying to this before.
