A most thoughtful, thought-provoking essay, Antane. Frodo was emptied that, in the fullness of time he might be refilled and become more than he had before. He paid the cost himself as others paid it for Aragorn, while Sam was filled simply with the love needed to support all. Author Reply: Hantanyel, my dear Larner! I have been anxiously awaiting your thoughts on this! :) That is cool what you said about Sam. They were all emptied of their own desires - Frodo and Sam would much rather not be on the way to Mordor, Aragorn would rather be in Rivendell with Arwen - but they were filled then with their reward for their selfless service. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

I just have to let you know how much I loved reading this. Each time I read The Lord of The Rings I find new depth and meaning. God's love for his children and their willingness to serve Him, whether they know Him or not, is one of the themes of the book that made me love it the first time I read it and the one that draws me back to the book again and again. Thank you for sharing this thoughtful and beautiful analysis. Author Reply: Hantanyel! I so appreciate your kind review. Indeed there is so much depth there and more I know that I don't even know about yet but look forward to finding out! :) Namarie, God bless, Antane
