Awww, now we know why Rosie is the perfect wife for Sam the gardener! I think you have captured the atmosphere of this summer day beautifully, and it reminded me very much of my own childhood days and of eating fesh fruit and vegetables directly from my parent's garden. Thanks for this lovely tale! A wee nitpick: "Stepping down the ladder carefully, Rosie’s Da offered the fruit to her. Remembering her manners, the lass said..." I find it a little bit awkward to have the same participle construction twice in a row, I think it might read smoother, if one if the sentences had a different syntax. Otherwise I found your style spot on. Author Reply: Thank you for review and wee nitpick. I appreciate any constructive nitpickies I get. Hugs, Neilia

Warm fresh-picked fruit! Yes! But we need to know what happened next -- did the tree grow? Was it always known as Rosie's tree? Did its fruit meet her expectations? Did her brothers have their own trees -- especially once Rosie had her own tree? Did the Cottons share peach pits with Sam? Did he plant them at Number 3 and/or at Bag End? Did Rosie move into Bag End and have some familiar Cotton peaches already growing there? Author Reply: There you go! I've got so many plot bunnies hippity-hoppy 'round with those questions that they are making me dizzy! Hugs, Neilia

A lovely story and a lovely memory. Did the pit grow into a tree? Thank you so much Neilia! Author Reply: Arggghh! Pearl wants more too! Dear me, I guess I had better revisit that little dirt mound and find out. :D Hugs, Neilia
