Just a lovely story Bodkin, I am very happy that you gave Glorfindel a well deserved happy ending. I would have loved more about his wife and son.

This was just beautiful. I loved the repetition of Glorfindel in the sun, and the differing emotions that each segment elicits. The words have a resonance, and the images that formed in my head as I read were just so lovely.
I particularly like the ending. :) Well done!

This is a beautiful tale. It was a long way home for Glorfindel. I liked the motif of Glorfindel baking in the sun and never being quite happy until he is back home.

Beautiful. I love the use of sunlight throughout and the constant search for warmth. I'm glad he finally found it within - and wihtout with his wife and son. I love your stories!

This is lovely - Romance with a capital r (and some romance too, it seems). Seeking warmth throughout the ages. So very glad to see Glorfindel have his own happy ending.

This was so amazing! I could almost feel the sun myself as you described him basking and soaking up the warmth--millenia after millenia.
I loved the undercurrents of sentiment and deeper emotion beneath the bantering exchanges between Glorfindel and Halatirno--a very male thing, that. It's clear that their friendship is a deep one, but they don't go *on* about it.
And how lovely to see him at the end, domesticated and content at last!

Ah, very nice, Bodkin! Glorfindel's emotional growth shines here... and it is lovely to see that he has such a close friend, and especially to see him reunited with his love at long last.
I adore Glorfindel, and the recurrent image of him sunbathing in all his golden glory is.... um, rather... distracting.....
Well done! ;-)

The mix of the sunbathing motif and the romantic backstory was interesting and moved it far beyond the usual hero-falls-in-love romance. And how appropriate - he is, after all _glor_findel! Loved the references to all different parts of his story - from the Grinding Ice to Gondolin to Elrond. It's good to know that the hero has his doubts about homecoming as well, sometimes!

Now, that was romance. Not the girlish romance novel stuff, but a tender 'his side' of an elven love story. A vital part of the Hero's tale. Sprinkled with tasty tidbits of humour! ;D I loved the theme of warmth, hearth, and home. Brilliant metaphor. Especially the Ice cold holding back the heat of passion. One heck of cold shower, if you ask me. Unattainable, unrequited love: the stuff of deathly melancholy. But, our hero will not succumb. He lives to fight again another day after another. And in the end, peace and contentment is his reward.
Halatimo is a fantastic character too. Kingfisher? I loved how he was the one who found Glorfindel. Or was Glorfindel sent to him? :) A best friend, one of the wonderful simple things in life, that Glorfindel had when he could not have his beloved beside him. Not that extraordinary of an elf, Hal sails but the friendship will endure till they meet again. Time and distance do not matter to him either.
Great story told in unsuspectingly touching moments. Oh! How could I not love this!!
Happy Birthday, Perelleth!
