What a truly remarkable piece of writing. The tone and language is so reminiscent of Tolkien; you have captured the characters so perfectly. This is now one of my favourite pieces of fanfiction. Thank you so much for this sensitively and beautifully rendered depiction of the life of the noble and honorable Aragorn, son of Arathorn/Estel Elrondian.

What a truly epic and breathtaking piece of writing! Thank you so much. Such detail and insight, based on canon. I loved it.

*sniff* That was both beautiful and heartbreaking! I can only repeat that I love the way you write the father-son relationship between Aragorn and Elrond. That last parting must have been so bitter for both of them. I really like to believe that they met again some day, at the ending of the world. I loved the idea that Elrond would take that Palantír with him. It must have brought him some comfort to be able to look into the stone from time to time. :) Author Reply: Thank you so much! It just felt right to me that they would feel this way, and, yes, parting must have been very hard on both of them. I doubt that Elrond would have just taken the Palantir without the new king's permission and it seemed appropriate that it should have been a gift from him, offered for this very reason. I'm so glad you enjoyed this chapter.

Here I am again! :D I can only begin to imagine how Aragorn must have felt when he finally got reunited with Arwen and knew that she would be his forever from then on. After all the sacrifices both of them had to make they really deserve all the joy and happiness they can get. I loved how you described the White Tree in this chapter! It seemed to be very fitting that they spent their first night together next to the White Tree. :) Author Reply: Hello! Good to see you again! Oh this is such a wonderful moment for them both and I'm so glad you felt this was an appropriate setting for them to finally be together. It just seemed right to me too. Thgank you so much for your review.

I loved getting to read the scene where Aragorn recalled Frodo and Sam! Poor both of them. It was sweet that Frodo only came back because he did not want to leave Sam, and that Sam almost didn't come back because he did not want to leave Frodo. Hobbits are indeed the most amazing and loveable creatures! :) It was so very fitting that Aragorn would not entrust their care to anyone but himself, even if it endangered his own life. I enjoyed this chapter very much! :) Author Reply: Thank you so much, Almut. I actually felt on rather shakey ground writing this as I really had no idea what happened when Aragorn recalled both these hobbits. I'm very glad to know it all sounded feasible!

*sniff* What a wonderful tribute to Halbarad! I guess no one could wish for a more noble, brave, and loyal friend, kinsman, and follower. I like the thought that he died saving Aragorn's life - it would surely have been the kind of death he would have wanted for himself. *sigh* Poor Halbarad! I'm going to miss him through the following chapters. Author Reply: Thank you! I sooooooooo wish we had seen more of Halbarad and knew a little more of his life. I'm so glad you enjoyed this tribute to him.

I really would not have wanted to endure that forced ride with an army of dead always following right on my heels! *shivers* I think no one but Aragorn would have been able to make his men and friends follow him through such hardship and make even the dead follow his commands! It must have been so very different for him to suddenly be able to openly ride under his own banner and his own name. I like the idea that Halbarad might have been aware of the fate that awaited him, though it probably makes his death even more heartbreaking. I do not even want to imagine what might have happened to Minas Tirith and every living soul sheltered within its walls if Aragorn had not made such haste. A great chapter! :) Author Reply: Thank you so much, Almut. This is a part of Aragorn's story that I wish we could have read about in more detail, though, for story telling reasons, Tolkien obviously had to have his arrival at the Pelennor a surprise. I tend to feel that Halbarad knew his fate, as his words before the Paths of the Dead suggest, and so his loyalty and bravery was all the more commendable. Ah, yes, if he had been too late, things would have been very different! Many thanks for your review.

*shivers* You described the Paths of the Dead a bit too well. *g* I really wouldn't have wanted to walk that path myself. I loved Aragorn's thoughts about Eowyn - his fear for her is only too understandable, and his words and actions towards her *were* rather hard, though I still think there was no other way. Taking her with him does not sound like a good idea to me. ;-) It must have been such a relief to be able to leave those dark tunnels again, though I don't think I'd have felt comfortable in the presence of the dead. I loved Aragorn's reaction to the banner. To finally be able to reveal his identity to the world must have been such a special thing to him. :) Author Reply: Ah, the banner, that was my favourite bit to write! It's such a fabulous moment even if it is overshadowed by the need for haste. I'm so glad you found this ride through the Paths to be scary. I think I would definitely have been like Gimli, on the point of turning round and racing out of there as fast as I could! Yes, Eowyn again! I think this was a case of Aragorn blaming himself again when he really didn't have a choice. Thank you so much for your review.

Poor Eowyn! I'm glad I already know that a happy ending is waiting for her - her fate would have been terribly sad otherwise. It must have been incredibly hard for Aragorn to reject her the way he did and know how much he would hurt her; but there really wasn't anything else he could do. Author Reply: Yes, she really was desperate for any means to escape her fate and I think Aragorn was wise enough to recognise that. No, he really couldn't do anything other than leave her behind especially as she had promised Theoden she would lead their people in his absence. And Aragorn most certainly could not become her accomplice in encouraging her to adandon her post and still retain Theoden as an ally. Thank you for your review.

I've always loved gapfillers dealing with what happened when Aragorn looked into the Palantir, and the moments afterwards. What Aragorn told his friends later on really was not enough to satisfy my curiosity. ;-) I very much enjoyed your take on the Palantir-scene! Poor Halbarad - I guess even in his worst nightmares he could not have expected what Aragorn would decide to do and where he would have to follow him. I love that ranger's steadfast loyalty. It's something Aragorn more than deserves and really needs right now, even though he does not ask for it. :) Author Reply: I too am fascinated by what happened with the Palantir. It was a remarkably brave thing that Aragorn did but he was very fortunate to have Halbarad beside him at the time. I'm so pleased you enjoyed my take on this and thank you so much for your review.
