Aspects of Aragorn  by Inzilbeth 10 Review(s)

It was very nice to get some backstory on Roheryn in this chapter - I've always loved that horse! :) I think Arwen's unexpected presence in Rivendell was just what Aragorn needed to re-fuel both his hope and his strength... and he really more than deserves some happiness after all those long and tedious years spent looking for Gollum in vain. I loved that Glorfindel had an appearance at the beginning of this chapter - Aragorn and Glorfindel's meeting reminded me a lot of the scene when Aragorn and the hobbits meet Glorfindel on their way to Rivendell. It's one of my favourite scenes in the entire book. :)

Author Reply: I love that scene too which is why I wanted to sneak Glorfindel into the story somewhere. I'm so glad you liked him. And I wish we knew more about Roheryn too. I felt poor Aragorn had suffered enough recently and was due another holiday at home!

I don’t know what to say… It was such a beautiful chapter, like a ray of pure light in shadows. Ah, sweet love…

Author Reply: Thank you! I must admit, I enjoyed giving Aragorn a holiday so much in the Bilbo chapter, I wanted to write another one.

A wonderful introduction to his mount, and a delightful gift to him from Arwen.

And he must have been happy indeed at that moment! Lovely!

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Larner. It was so good to give Aragorn a happy time for a change.

Ah, the shippy bits in this were so good!

I really like how young Arwen appears in this--I imagine that falling in love with a mortal took away some of those years that had weighed on her till then. And Aragorn is definitely a man in this, too, though a proper one who's trying so desperately to hold himself back. ^_^

Also (like many others) found the whole "bath" thing quite interesting. I didn't really have a problem with it because as an elf and a man raised by elves, they both must have taken (and must have been trusted to take) LACE very, very seriously.

Lovely chapter!

Author Reply: I'm so glad you enjoyed this, Celeritas. I must admit I'm surprised the bath thing has caused quite so much comment. I certainly wouldn't want to infect them with present day morals but neither would I want to depict then as Victorian prudes. I guess Aragorn here is more than just Arwen's intended but also a family member returning home who doesn't need to be treated with the formality of a guest.

And yes, I like to think falling in love would turn Arwen into a teenager!
And Aragorn is definitely all man LOL!

As always, thank you so much for your review.

Awwww; he's got almost all he needs here - the love of his beloved and the love of his father, and a wonderful horse!

Nice chapter.

Author Reply: LOL! Yes, almost but not quite!

Thanks, Raksha, for reviewing.

What a lovely present. I'm sure Aragorn is more than grateful. I like how these stories blends into the actual Lord of hte Rings story.

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Jancy, for your review. Yes, what better gift could Arwen give? I do try to be very faithful to canon so I'm very glad to know it's appreciated.

Well this chapter takes the cake for me! It was so beautiful, I wonder thou what dear old Elrond would do if he caught his daughter alone with Aragorn naked in the tub and all, but maybe elves are different? Hugs The Imp P.S. I meant Aragorn was naked! LOL!

Author Reply: I'm so glad you enjoy this chapter, Debs, and thank you so much for the review.
As to naked Aragorn, see my reply below! He would of course behave properly at all times; he wouldn't be the same suffing Ranger if he didn't!

I feel as giddy as these two lovebirds. This has got to be my favorite chapter thus far. Just to see Aragorn and Arwen so happy. Their love is contagious. After reading and feeling this blissful moment for Aragorn (though short as it is)I probably wouldn't mind if you took a vacation from writing (probably is the word...maybe I'll give you a week's vacation!)

This chapter was exhilerating. Boy did Aragorn need this! Don't know what else to tell... the previous reviewers said it for me already!

PS - I sure hope Aragorn had bubbles in his bath...or I guess there's no such thing as modesty or self-conscious in Imladris!

I love the "matted hair" and Arwen's question "do you never use a comb when out in the wilds?”

I can tell you had fun writing this chapter! And I had fun reading it!

Author Reply: Oh RS, I'm thrilled that this is your favourite chapter and you are absolutely right, I had a great time writing it. In fact I wrote it twice as I had just finished it and hit 'save' only for my computer to devour it completely so I turned round and wrote it again!

LOL! Bubbles! I guess Arwen was being very good and averting her eyes! I imagine that as these two were such moral characters, there was no thought of some sort of Victorian chaperone. I couldn't possibly write them with one of those in tow!

Thank you so much for your review.

For me, Roheryn is the most delightful, and up to now the most joyful of your chapters. You have no idea how happy it made me to read such a perceptive portrayal of Aragorn and Arwen's love. To my mind, you captured to perfection the joy and contentment they felt in each other's company.

Your scenes were so glowing and vivid that they felt completey authentic and real. It was great seeing Aragorn's weariness and sorrowfulness turn into gladness at the sight of Arwen, and it made me even happier to see Elrond rejoice in their happiness because I'm sure that's how he felt.

Roheryn of course was a total delight. I didn't expect anything else from someone who knows horses and loves them as you do.

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Estelcontar, for your wonderful review. I'm thrilled you enjoyed this little holiday of Aragorn's as I thoroughly enjoyed giving him the much needed break!

And yes, there's a lot of my fire breathing fellow in Roheryn!

What a beautiful chapter. It galloped away with me until I was practically in Rivendell myself, flying away on a magnificent horse and reveling in the valiant love of those who share him.

Author Reply: LOL! Thank you so much, Shirebound, for your lovely review. I'm glad you enjoyed the ride!
