Wherever the Prompt Might Lead  by Larner 12 Review(s)
Queen GaladrielReviewed Chapter: 6 on 12/17/2008
Awww this is sooo sweet! I love glimpses of the dear royal family being...well, a typical family. Especially love this:

“I hope to be back by then.  And what would you wish as a gift?”

            “A monkey!” he said happily.

“You are a monkey,” Melian advised him.  “Look at you--you just dropped your fork again!”
*giggle* The little prince is definitely all boy, bless him, and his prim sister is quite the proper young lady. :D

Author Reply: Oh, yes, a typical brother and sister, him young enough to think a monkey sounds to be a grand gift! Heh!

I liked this very much, great use of the prompts.I fear I've given up as a bad job.I always love to see Aragorn and his children.

Author Reply: Thank you so, Linda. Sorry you've decided to go no further. It's proving increasingly difficult, as I've said repeatedly.

LOL, I don't think I knew the new word was "fork" when I first read this, so I was looking at words and guessing. I had guessed "zither" but I was wrong!

Very clever!

Author Reply: Thanks so, Lindalea. Have found my mind going rather silly with all these words now!

Although for all I know a zither might well become part of the list. Having to work monkey into all of them from now on is going to be VERY interesting!

A lovely glimpse of Aragorn and his children.

Author Reply: Thanks, Linda. I love to visit with the King and the royal children at times, too! Heh!

I noticed that something got left out in my review, namely:

**What, so much not-angsty stuff from Larner?? Suttung, if you have spiked her drink with some of your mead, _DO IT AGAIN!!!_ **

(between the << >>)

Author Reply: (And not everything I write is angsty, after all, although the last two chapters in Stirring Rings have been anything but funny, I suspect.)

I don’t suppose the similarity in concept to ”The Twelve days of Christmas” is coincidental. My neyrons tend to get tangled up like basket of yarn balls after a visit from a kitten sometime after “Six swans a-laying" – no, the swans were _swimming_, weren’t they, and it was geese (WHY not hens) making eggs – I almost wrote omelets ;-)
Oh, well, if somebody is going to go through these ficlets with an electron microscope to make _sure_ you get through every item of the day’s list, _I_ am surely _not_ going to be one! I’ll simply enjoy your fun :-)

(Suttung was the, well, _NOT_ a god, but the _origin_ of true bardery in the Norse Mythology) (...it is sort of complicated...)

(Hope that such a blatantly pagan reference won't offend, but then I am not a Christian)

Author Reply: Dear, I fell in love with mythology by the time I was seven, and have never given over the love affair. Which helps explain, I suppose, why I love Tolkien as much as I do! Heh! Although I'd not heard of Suttung before!

What gets written between left and right arrows the website sees as an HTML code, which is why it didn't print. Now I understand the next comment you made! Heh!

And blame Dwimmerdane and Aranel, I think, for the word list, which gets more difficult to put together in a short tale each day! Heh!

Thanks for the feedback!

I am sure that Arwen would love some perfume. I would like the zither.

Author Reply: I wish I had my mom's old zither. I never found a tuning key for it, though, so I could never get it properly tuned.

And Arwen would undoubtedly love some perfume! Heh!

*grin* So Eldarion wants to have a monkey? Not sure that's such a good idea ... Melian, on the other hand, is way too good, wishing for something to learn, not for a nice gown or the like. But at least she had a good idea for Arwen, I think.

Author Reply: My dad was stationed for a time in Central America, and one neighbor while they lived there had a monkey. It used to climb up on the roof and fling its feces at anyone who came out the door. I so wanted to have one as an adult cousin of mine had one and it fascinated me; Mom vetoed the idea immediately. The one in Costa Rica soured her on them forever.

*giggle* This is becoming like the "12 Days of Christmas"! You are being very clever with it.

Author Reply: Oh, I agree, Dreamflower. And it's getting harder each day to find ways to write a ficlet incorporating all the words! Heh!

I can so see myself as Melian. I have a little brother who acts really iritatingly. Elizabeth has it alot wrose than me, though. I only have one little brother, she has two and some little sisters. Nice chapter!
God Bless!

Author Reply: My little brother was often a brat, but then I wasn't always nice to him as a big sister, either. Heh! And I like imagining that Eldarion was second-born rather than first. Sometimes I identify with him, and sometimes with her.

Thanks so, Szepilona.
