I finally got to read this story. It's an enchanting New Year's story. I loved to read how Aragorn brought hope and healing to all, including Faramir.

isn't it neat that the healing hands of the king can be such a simple, gentle reminder that you have a loving friend close by.

Author Reply: It is indeed a blessing.Aragorn must have a wonderful touch.Thank you for your much appreciated review.

Hi Linda -

A wonderful, thoughtful story that gave me hope in an otherwise bleak new year.

This story put me in the position of Faramir, hoping a real Aragorn existed in our world. It made me think of the upcoming inauguration of US president-elect Barack Obama, and how much hope, perhaps unrealistic hope, my particular country places on his shoulders. Obama has his hands full.

As for Aragorn, we fan fiction writers have reams of writing to do to present how the Aragorn Elessar administration handles all the trials of a world only now tasting freedom. It's time for me to get back to "Web of Treason!"

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted my story brightened the New Year for you.It is a bleak picture in the UK too and the coldest in 30 years!

There was a cartoon in my newspaper on your election day with both main candidates deciding they had changed their minds about wanting the job!

I'm playing with the idea of another dark Fourth Age story in which not everyone appreciates how lucky they are!

'tis quite charming and, yes, fluffy, but not too fluffy. ;-)

Author Reply: I@m relieved this isn't too fluffy for you!

Beautiful!

I loved how Faramir was suddenly touched by the unseen memory of the fire--and then how the King, ever compassionate (and bright enough to figure out that maybe fire would affect him) came to his side.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you liked this story.I always think Aragorn's Elvish heriatage made him perceptive.

And a warm, beautiful image it is, of the Yule fire lit and shining joyfully in the restored world, and the King sharing that joy with the Steward who shall ever be as son and brother and friend to him!

Lovely, Linda! Thank you!

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted you enjoyed my story and this early glimpse of the bond between Aragorn and Faramir.

You draw a nicely differentiated picture of the mood in Gondor at this time. I like how the bonfire as a symbol of hope implicitly represents a contrast to the destructive fires of Mordor.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed the story. It always fascinates me how fire can be used for both creation and destruction.
