So sad a thing--what he could have been compared to what he became.

Thanks for posting this here now.

Maglor's life really was very sad with so much wasted unrealised potential.

Thansk so very much for reading and reviewing!

This is a bleakly beautiful piece. You capture Maglor's anguish perfectly. I love how the imagery follows the same arc as The Silmarillion itself; glorious beauty turns to conflict, which in turn gives way to ruin. The symbolism was stunning. Kinslaying lightning, mud like blood, clothing like bandages. Perfect.

I'm pleased that you appreciated the imagery and the flow of the story. I felt that a music metaphor was most appropriate for describing Maglor.

Thanks so very much for reading and reviewing! Sorry this reply was so late!

Very sad, with a dramatic and well-written ending.

I'm glad you liked Swan Song. I think using a music metaphor is an appropraite way of describing Maglor in his celebration of the life he knew and in the description of his defeat. Dischrdant, untuned, unstrung.

Thanks for reading and reviewing!
