Oh, thank you for this! It's not often we gt to see Boromir show a sense of humor...and he *would* do something like that! Your story made me grin...I loved it! Very imaginative and very well written.

Okay, I'm with Legolas and Gandalf on this one. Snow Belrogs? Really, the rest thought it was funny? lol The elf and wizard probably thought the rest of them were nuts! Poor Gandalf, seeing the others laugh at what would soon be his bane. Nice fic though, it did make me smile! :) Author Reply: I think, if you know only tales, you do not 'appreciate' the horror of which you speak. Luckily for the Hobbits and Boromir, Balrogs are only tales to frighten children.... Sadly, they will find out just what a Balrog can do... Thanks for the review! Glad it made you smile. That was its intent.

Wouldn't it be nice if we all could walk "on" the snow. It sure would make getting places a lot easier. I suppose one could use snow shoes, but I think they would be a bit cumbersome. Isn't it amazing how spending a little time with a grandchild, or any child for that matter, can inspire such a cute tale Author Reply: I am sure that some kind of snowshoe was available to men - I guess Elves don't need them - but the Fellowship did not seem to 'carry' them with them! Thanks for the review - the child brings only joy!

I loved this. Wish I didn't sink when I am taking the dog out but I have enjoyed looking at all the tracks of deer, rabbits, birds etc over the last few days. Author Reply: Thanks so much for the review! I'm very glad you liked it. And tracks can be such fun.... even in Middle-earth!

I loved this for two basic reasons. The humor in it and the fact that it has foreshadowing of a very dark nature. I wonder if much later, Pippin, Boromir and the others recalled the event after Gandalf's fall. I do love Boromirs exasperation and his sense of humor in this. Thanks for brightening my evening. Author Reply: Many thanks, GW - when I was trying to figure out what on earth Boromir was up to - I had to think of what had wings in Middle-earth. And immediately, I remembered Gandalf's fall. I believe both Boromir and Pippin would be deeply hurt by the fact that they 'made fun' of Balrogs..... I do so love Boromir and his 'humanity' - great character to play with. Many thanks for brightening my evening with this review!

*gigglesnort* I've always thought that on the journey up Caradhras, Legolas was excessively irritating. I'm glad that Boromir managed to discomfit him a little bit! And that is the sort of observation Pippin would find funny--although he said nothing about Arargorn's footsteps! Balrog wings? LOL! The legend of the flamewar over Balrog wings has taken on a life of its own! Have you ever read the FAQ on the subject? My personal theory is that some Balrogs had them and some didn't--they were, after all, corrupted Maia stuck in the shapes of fire demons. But that didn't mean they all had to be alike! Who knows *what* a fire demon would look like? However, I don't believe that wings made out of fire would be functional: they would have been more of a way to strike terror into their victims than a means of transportation! Author Reply: Hi and glad you were able to giggle over this... Yes - that phrase about going to catch the sun - Shees! Elvish temerity!!! He did say that Aragorn's steps sunk a little.... but it was a quick reference as Boromir was making such a stink about it.... As for Balrog wings - well, I didn't want to bring up controversy - but I didn't think a anow eagle would be appropriate - nor a wizard - but Balrogs - well now you have the tale that is oft told in Gondor about Balrogs and wings (shoo dratted nuzgul!!!).... I like Michael Martinez idea that the first Balrogs - way back in the Sil - were a different breed than those later on - the first ones seemed to have wings - the later ones????? Ah - but fire and dance and fly high into the air....... Many thanks for this great review!

And you WOULD have to say a "Balrog with Wings"! Are you planning to start THAT argument again? Delightful! Heh! Author Reply: Very glad you liked this one shot! I could not help using balrogs - I really don't believe the Valar had wings... As for Gondorians - known to be skepticle.... *giggles* They were the ones who started that argument, many ages ago, just to keep everyone guessing! ROTFL

A wonderful, wonderful story, Agape!! I had never thought before how strange their tracks would have looked, but you're right. MEWD!! Author Reply: Thanks, Pearl - And you know dear Pip's inquisitive mind would drive him to note this anomaly!

“If you leave no foot tracks, you can’t leave Snow Balrogs!” Adorable. What a fun distraction for the Fellowship (and us). Author Reply: Well - some folk think Balrogs have wings!!! I don't think Pippin's little brain EVER stopped thinking - He must have had great opportunity on this trip to ponder and wonder and giggle and laugh!!! At least - for a time.... Many thanks for the review!
