I love the way you talk about your sub-creations - just like a writer should! :) You are a true kindred spirit!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thank you, dear! They're my "children" in a way, so I enjoy talking about them! ;)

I finally had time to read the last chapters of this story. Each was a delight. I have very much enjoyed reading "Distractionsn." Thank you for this wonderful gift of your time and talent.

“I owed you one,” Merry said. “I promised to end things with Frodo, and I made an oath to Sam years ago to not play pranks on him, so that left you by default. Never conspire against me, Peregrin Took.”

ROTFL!!!

And so Merry gets his revenge, Ossie gets his Jamila and vice versa, but the Mystery of the Hairless Cat remains unsolved ;-)

Great ending and great story. I very much enjoyed reading it, or in other words (which I learned from Pearl): MEWD!

Thank you very much!

Author Reply: Poor Pippin! His next "trick" will likely involve getting a simliar promise out of Merry. ;)

The hairless cat has been nibbling at my ankles wanting one more honorable mention for several chapters now. Frodo and Sador were actually going to stumble upon him at one point but this is better I think. Was the cat there? Was it not? Is he a spy? We may never know. ;)

You're welcome very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you for all your lovely reviews. :D

Thank you for writing it. I love fun stories, and stories that give us a feel for life in the White City at the time.

Author Reply: You're welcome, dear! It was a lot of fun to write, and to try to figure out what life in Minas Tirith would have been like during this time period.

What fun! I really have enjoyed this story so much, and it was really interesting to see your thought processes on it! I will hop over to LJ to look at your excerpts!

By the way, there is *one* canon prank in LOTR, a very mild one-- and perpretrated by Pippin of course. It was on the way to Crickhollow, when Pippin confuses the sleeping Sam by ordering bathwater!

But I don't have a problem with prankish hobbits, because JRRT himself was a bit of a practical joker, at least according to his biographer Humphrey Carpenter, who details a few of them. One of them involved his wearing a bear suit! So I think hobbits would partake a little of that side of their creator's nature!

Author Reply: Tolkien did consider himself a hobbit. Makes sense then if they enjoy a good prank now and again. :D

I love Arwen's observation about love for that is certainly true for our hobbits. And I love that I have something more in common with Frodo - being easily distracted while cooking! :) Happy Thanksgiving!!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Arwen is quite wise, and knows the true value of love. I too can get distracted from my cooking, and unfortunately it only takes a couple of minutes to ruin a meal! No wonder Merry enjoys ribbing Frodo over it. ;)

Happy Thanksgiving to you too, dear! Thank you for reading and commenting.

Ah--a wonderful ending for this story as at last Jamila and Osric can hold hands and kiss! Heh! And poor Pippin--finding THAT in his horn! Heh!

At least all have had the chance to distract themselves from everything else. And soon the Hobbits will be on their way home, thinking of homecomings and seeing friends and family again.

Delightful!

Author Reply: So long as that's all Osric and Jamila do! Fortunately, being on the road will make it hard for them to find alone time. :D Ah, Pippin. He should have known (and probably did) that would come back to haunt him!

They were plenty distracted and now have the prospect of going home to look forward to. It should be a much more leisurely journey than their previous one. ;)

Thank you for reading, dear, and for all your lovely reviews! I'm glad you've enjoyed the story.

*grin* *APPLAUSE!!!*WHISTLES!!!*BRAVO!!!*

Take a bow, dear! This was a lovely tale!

I do hope we haven't completely seen the end of some of this cast-- I'd love to see a few ficlets or vignettes featuring some of these OCs, maybe before the hobbits go home, or maybe during Merry, Pippin and Sam's future visits south! (Will the hobbits get to see Osric and Jamila's wedding when they go through Rohan on the way home?)

But very nice!

Author Reply: *bows**kisses**waves*

Thank you, my dear! I don't have any plans for follow-up fics at the moment, though I too would like to check up on some of these OCs later too. Petras concerns me, and someone really should keep an eye on that hairless cat! lol! ;) (The hobbits stay in Rohan for a week, so they just might be able to see the wedding! I hope they do, anyway. Would be a shame if they had to miss it.)

Thank you for all your lovely reviews, DF! *hugs*
