Spring is quite lovely (especially to the farmer) in that it offers so many opportunities: not enough time has gone by to set everything in stone. I hope that year was a good harvest!

Author Reply: I grew up in the country, and watched fields and gardens bloom at neighbor's homes while we saw our chickens and ducklings hatch and our puppies grow to little fluffballs and eventually leggy little dogs.... Yes, a time to imagine what the harvests will bring! And I, too, hope that it was a good harvest!

Thanks so!

Oo, I love the imagery, and it's pleasant to see Pal as a farmer, somehow, considering all the trouble he and Pippin had later.

Author Reply: Even as Thain he had to oversee the planting of the farmlands and fields associated with the Great Smials, so I think he'd never give over his appreciation of a good field beginning to spring! Thanks so very much!

Lovely look at the post-RingWar landscape from the viewpoint of Paladin Took. Very hobbity!

Author Reply: Oh, I'm so glad you like it, Raksha! And that you do find it appropriately Hobbity--that's an honor indeed.

As an imbiber - I'm content! Nicely written.... I do like Paladin!

Author Reply: Even as a non-imbiber I find I can appreciate his feelings. And Paladin is a delight to write. Thank you so, Agape.

I love the image of the shire flourishing.

Author Reply: I'm so glad you do, Linda. Thank you!

Know that feeling. Maybe not so much the crop, but to watch everything turning green and growing again in spring. It's just lovely after a long winter.

Author Reply: Yes, to see the leaf buds beginning to swell and life stirring anew is always something wonderful! Thanks, Kitty.

Ah yes! As a farmer in the thick of lambing and daily willing the grass to grow faster and spring to start springing, I can really relate to this. Well done!

Author Reply: Oh, am so glad you do, Inzilbeth. Haven't helped with lambing, but have helped birth pups, kittens, and chicks. I'm certain you can appreciate this indeed. Thank you!

Ah, yes, this is the Farmer Paladin that I know and love.

Author Reply: Indeed, Lindelea.

Hope you and the children are feeling better. Love to hubby and Zoe and all.
