Another interesting chapter. I love the idea of Sam being in touch with the trees and the wonder he felt. That would be very appropriate for the gardener and that gift of Galadriel's was well given indeed - as was the rope. I wonder if you would do one from Frodo's POV, perhaps after the Quest and he thinks of how much his Sam has grown and how proud he is and how much love he feels. There are so many loving touches Frodo included in the Red Book - it would be interesting to have a story when he thinks of it. What say you? Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: My apologies for replying so late Antante, but I have been thinking about your request and yes, I think I will write it: especially for you! You have been so wonderfully supportive, thank you so much! Back to Sam, of the four hobbits on the quest, he just felt the most connected to the earth and nature. So when I read in Lord of the Rings that Frodo (even while carrying the ring), perceived the trees, I started to ponder what Sam would do if Frodo told him such a thing and how Samwise would react to such marvellous trees. Before I knew it, pieces off the puzzles fell into place and the plotpanda finally wanted to cooperate (what keeps me from finishing this now is just the sheer lack of personal time).

I love how Glorfindel took Sam into his arms and Sam just broke down there, certainly a sign of the extreme stress the dear lad was under to do that. I'm glad the Elf could offer comfort to him and assure him that he had nothing to do with Frodo being wounded and that he was understanding why Sam would be upset with him for being parted with Frodo. Interesting too that he felt the same guilt long ago himself. *hugs Sam for comfort and Glorfindel in thanks for being there for Sam* Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

I love Celeborn's musings. And he was the one who thought about rope! Wonderful assesment of Sam's character. :)

This is indeed perfect for the Hobbit who one day will replant the groves of the Shire that were felled at Sharkey's behest. And love how the gift of the rope is done obliquely! Yes! Indeed a lord of wisdom Celeborn proves!

steadfast as a rock in a stormy sea What a perfect description of our dear Sam. I enjoy seeing him through these different eyes and perceptions.

Glorfindel was not certain what was sharper, his tongue, or his glare, yet there was not much time left with a life at stake. Wonderful description of Sam! Yes, Glorfindel is one of the best people to comfort Sam at this point in time. Love it. :)

Gildor named Sam! :D The road to follow is uncertain for us all. I do think that you shall enjoy it nonetheless. Not all of it, but overall, certainly. :) Lovely chapter. Author Reply: Thanks Indy! I thought that Gildor naming Sam would be a nice touch!

What a lovely beginning and certainly an interesting take on Sam's birth that I have not read before. I love Gildor's words to the little babe. And the ending. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Thank you Antane for leaving such a kind review. I figured that of all the hobbits, Bilbo would not be stressed out of having an elf on his doorstep!

He needs the reassurance, certainly! And there is the memory of the birth of this extraordinary Hobbit to examine as well!

So, Gildor Inglorion is the first to meet young Samwise Gamgee, eh? Nice beginning for one of our favorite of Hobbits! Author Reply: It couldn't have been more special for our plain looking Sam!
