Very nice! Batteries look to be in great shape! ;o) Author Reply: Hi cookiefleck, I laughed at the 'batteries' comment! Thanks for that! Glad you enjoyed and thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)

I liked it. The out of metre lines were not very obvious - I did not notice them. Author Reply: Hello Aiwen, Oh I'm relieved you didn't notice the out-of-metre lines! I can spot them a mile off, but that's probably just because I wrote them *chuckles*. Thanks for R & R-ing and I'm glad you liked it! M ;)

I crumble to uneven ground As Goodness breaks my fall Its rocky stones would pierce my skin But Love removes them all The boulder hurts my aching head So Kindness lends an arm And undisturbed I close my eyes As Faith protects from harm Oh, dear, dear cousin! I love this but this above the most. What a sweet, wonderful, heartaching gift to give! Love it, especially the Sam stuff, but also the telling of the terrible violation of Frodo's soul and how he kept going even then. They have so much to teach us! *hugs you all* Namarie, God bless, Your grateful Took Author Reply: Hello Took, It was well worth the time spent writing if you like it so much, m'dear! Glad, thrilled and delighted that you enjoyed the gift ;) Their friendship is indeed a lesson to us all. Each one thinks so highly of the other (and not enough of their own selves). What a pair! Like tea and biscuits, or coffee and cake - you can't have one without the other... Thanks (always) for R & R-ing my Tookish bloom, Mistress McGamgee :o)

Wonderfully done! Someone said this before, but I'm really amazed how perfectly Sam's voice fit in, including "Mr Frodo, sir". And I loved the following stanza in which the good things that Sam stands for are named: Goodness, Love, Kindness and Faith! Just wonderful! Thank you very much :) Author Reply: Guten Abend, liebe Andrea! I'm flattered by your lovely comments, how very kind you are :) It seemed appropriate to list some of the things Frodo thought of Sam and weave them into the flow of the poem - Frodo's gratitude for Sam's steady, levelling presence in such a situation must know no bounds (just as Sam's admiration for Frodo knows no bounds!). Vielen Dank für’s R & R, M :)

Welcome back! A most thoughtful poem, I must say! Thank you for it. Sam definitely personifies all he seeks to protect. Author Reply: Hello Larner! How lovely to hear (read) your warm welcome. I'm glad to be back. I thought it was about time I attempted something mainly from Frodo's pov (I usually do Sam) and it turned out okay, thankfully. Sam does indeed personify al he seeks to protect (though he'd be the last to admit it). Poor Frodo sells himself far too short too, I think. He's a wonderful example of endurance and fortitude in the face of adversity - though he'd never admit that either! Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)

Wow! This is incredible! I particularly like how well you capture Sam's voice while still preserving the poetry. Very impressive! Author Reply: Hello elliska, I think Sam's stanza was the easiest part of the whole thing to write! He's such a good nurturer to Frodo, bless him. And poor Frodo, trying to fight the pull of the Ring so close to Mount Doom, it must have been dreadful shivers. Thanks very much for your kind words. I'm really glad you enjoyed the poem. Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)

The only gem of any worth Is lulling me with song And as my eyes drift to a close I know he makes me strong This is utterly beautiful. *applauds* Author Reply: Hello shirebound, thanks very much for such a lovely compliment! It was new territory for me, imagining Frodo's struggle during the Quest as opposed to his trials after it. He's a poor wee soul, really, but I'm glad he had a good friend in Sam to support him when his impressive resolve showed signs of wear & tear after all the hardships it endured throughout the Quest. We all need a friend like that at some point! Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;)
