Memory of Faery  by Ellie 3 Review(s)
AlassielReviewed Chapter: 1 on 9/6/2009
Dear Ellie,

This is one of those stories which it is hard to review—because it is so evocative and beautiful. It combines many things which touch my heart—healing, the power of play, the beauty of a lake at night and even the smell and taste of cool water, which has always reminded me of moonlight. The remembrance of the festival of Telperion was lovely. I am glad that these vigilant and often sorrowful warriors were given a time of respite and unsullied joy. By the way, I also love Loreena McKennitt’s rendition of Yeats’ poem.

Blessings,

Alassiel

I am so happy that the story touched you so. It means a lot to me to hear this. I bellieve I achieved the effects I had hoped to with the imagery and imitation of Yeats' style.

Thansk so very very much for reading and for telling me what the story meant to you. Sending you many hugs!

I liked this a lot Ellie. Love the idea of a festival for healing.

The challenge was to write a story with the sun and/or moon being central to the story. I had been listening to "Stolen Child" and figured that if elves could offer to heal mortals in the poem, then why not elves having a place for healing elves in Middle-earth? The imagery was fun to write and beautiful to imagine.

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Every face glowed with elvish light as silver joy shone in their ageless eyes

What a lovely, lyrical, tender story. And quite a unique idea.

Author Reply: Thank you very much! I'm pleased you enjoyed it. It was fun and a beautiful exercise thinking of Tolkien's elves in terms of the ethereal nature fairies Yeats describes.

Thanks for reading and reviewing!
