Tempering the Madness  by Alassante 4 Review(s)

Very nicely done, Alassante!

We see evidence in the Silmarillion that Maedhros would have liked to be the voice of reason more often, but he was caught up in the tragic web of Melkor's lies and his father's obsession.

And I always did feel sympathy for Celebrimbor, caught up in such insanity....

Absolutely wonderful. You portray Celebrimbor exactly as I would imagine him, struggling to make sense of something that for him, made no sense whatsoever. Your depiction of Curufin shows a clear reflection of his father Feanor and poor Maedhros...who I always felt got a terrible deal out of the whole thing...is strong, but sympathetic to his nephew's quandary.

Well done. It's stories like this that make readers want to delve more into the world of the Eldar.

This is so sad; Maedhros as the voice of reason in a season of rising madness that is tearing apart the House of Finwe; and we all know what Maedhros will eventually become; harder for him than for Curufin. No wonder Celebrimbor eventually became estranged from his father.

Nicely done!
