Falling Leaves  by Linda Hoyland 14 Review(s)
LarnerReviewed Chapter: 9 on 5/22/2010
The land lives on under Eldarion's rule, and the oak shall live again in ships or furniture, and in providing warmth for those who need it. Sad, but life continues in spite of the loss of kings or oaks. Seedlings even now rise from its last acorns....

Now, this indeed is a delightful memorial to come upon. I am so glad this town has grown up to the memory of those who died in Eregion and Khazad-dum, as living Men and Dwarves come together to rebuild for what future there will be for both races.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated reviews. It was Raksha's idea to rebuild Hollin and it seemed very plausible!

Indeed, how utterly fitting! A beautiful image to hold, of the weeping willows as a memorial to those who fought the Nazgul there and fell with the bridge, and Faramir's honor for their memory.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated reviews. I love weeping willows and felt they fitted here.

This is beautiful. I love the metaphor of the tree having fallen marking Aragorn's passing. Just lovely.

A wonderful way to think of young Eldarion's means of learning how trees react to the change in seasons. And love Aragorn's description of the new buds!

What a perfect way to order his most important moments with the woman he's loved for so very long--in terms of each tree under which he has seen her at such times! Exquisite, Linda!

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much apreciated review.I always think of trees when I think of Arwen,so I'm pleased that you liked this.

Sad to think that this tree is one that is tied so to both life and death. A beautiful, though-provoking ficlet.

I hadn't thought of Beren being sent back to finish the life stolen from him in this manner as itself a means of ensuring the final victory; but of COURSE it would occur to the mind of the son of Arathorn at such a moment! Well done!

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much apreciated review. I'm pleased I thought of something different and it was plausible to you that Aragorn should think that!

Raksha The DemonReviewed Chapter: 3 on 5/18/2010
You capture the power of this moment very well; as the heir of the Kings of Gondor sees the dead and barren White Tree. I loved the way Aragorn focussed on the return of Beren; part of one of Tolkien's central stories...

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much apreciated review.. I'm pleased you liked my idea on what Aragorn felt when he saw the White Tree.

A sweet and evocative drabble. Lovely dialogue between Aragorn and his young son.
