Huan, the Tale of a Hound  by Nerdanel 3 Review(s)

Wonderful! Definitely a keeper! Love Huan's decision to go forth as a hound, and in the end to return to the Master who had lost himself, but who hopefully within Mandos will find himself once more.

Author Reply: Thank you so much. I always loathed Celegorm and so I found it hard to try to show him in a sympathetic light in this story (at least in the beginning); but I tried to think about how Huan would have seen him, and that helped. I too hope that he will be healed from his darkness, and maybe Huan will eventually help him do that.

when a dog has done his duty for love, why should he mourn?

What a beautiful story and gap-filler; worthy of a place in the Professor's tale.

Author Reply: Thank you so much for your generous words.

This is insightful and just rings true on so many levels. Thank you for writing this about characters that I know and love. It has added to an already rich body of writing and given another dimension for reflection. Very well done!

Author Reply: Thank you! Huan has always been one of my favourite characters and I feel he often gets overlooked for the greater heroes like Beren or Luthien. But he no less deserves praise and attention for his deeds!

Blessings,
