Giggling! The poor menfolk, hearing this all at their expense! And it does appear there will be reason now for the womenfolk to push for trade and cultural exchanges! Heh!

Author Reply: Yes, the poor guys. They did have their chance to smooth things out, but, alas, it was the lassies who worked it out. teehee

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Sooooo....National Service for the Eldar! What an interesting notion Ellie! I think to make it fair all of the National Servicemen should wear extremely drab, ill-fitting uniforms and they should have to carry their mug and mess tins around with them. Hair should be cut very short, after all, we can't have those long locks getting in the way of the square bashing (marching for those who don't know British Army terms!)

That way you can be sure that they are all evaluated equally!

NB

National service is a common name for mandatory government service programmes (usually military service, also known as conscription). The term national service became common British usage in the Second World War, when all wealth and manpower were conscripted under government control. Many young people spent one or more years in such programmes in the 20th century. Compulsory military service typically requires all citizens, or all male citizens, to participate for a period of a year (or more in some countries) during their youth, usually at some point between the age of 18 and their late twenties. National Service in the UK only ended in the early 1960's. In fact my ex husband was one of the last intakes into the Royal Air Force in 1961. National Service ended in 1963.

Author Reply: All of the men will likely be required to train as well because of the magnitude of the Final War and the women will likely have to fight, too. I think guys will keep their hair as they wear it normally though they do need to learn to survive off the land if necessary. The abundance of inns near the training areas likely won't help in that regard, but oh well... *Smirk*

I love talking to you becuase I always learn so much! Thanks for the cool facts on the National Service!

You know what I think, they should get rid of all the Ellyn in the delegations and let the ellith handle it, they seem to have the right idea! There isn't a job Neri could do that that Nissi can't do better!
This was a good giggle and it did put the Ellyn in their place!
More please,
Lynda

Author Reply: Things would certainly be handled differently if the ellith did it all. I'm pleased you enjoyed the story.

You do realize you have to keep writing this! We need the camps set up for the various evaluations. Always, always leave it to the ladies to solve the most important issues in the most unlikely and usually peaceful ways. This was wonderful! Thank you.

Author Reply: This story just came to me one morning and I started asking Fiondil for info about the days of the week and descriptions of the Valar and I think he thought I was nuts. Then I sent him the work in progress and he was very amused. I never considered writing this further than what I posted here. Maybe if the muses are agreeable, I could continue it...

I'm thrilled you enjoyed this so much.

This was excellent! "We do not follow our king merely for his abundant wisdom and fine leadership skills… if you know what I mean.” That little comment reminds me of some of the blog posts and comment threads at www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com
And the Vanyarin categories were to die for, especially "Námo" and "Irmo"! (Although I suspect that the boundary between the two might get a bit blurry)

I do wonder what the reactions of the Valar might be to the categories named for them, though... ;-)

Author Reply: You know, I never considered what the Valar might have to say about the ratings concerning them. Perhaps that would make for an epilogue or something...*snerk*

I'm terribly fond of Arafinwe so it was way too much fun making him so...um...highly rated and um...appreciated for his many facets. LOL!

Oh my goodness, my desk is now a total mess. Never read a comedy at 6am while drinking tea! But this is all too funny and spot on in perspective. I volunteer to join the group of ellith as they travel from training camp to training camp!!!

Thanks for a good laugh within a universe that I totally LOVE! (Waving madly towards Fiondil.)

Author Reply: I didn't want to give away much about the story by posting a comedy warning and honestly didn't realise all fo the property damage which would ensue. LOL! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

*is dead of laughing* Oh dear me, all those poor ellyn. Which...only goes to prove, that there's always a good woman behind every successful man? XD

Author Reply: Yes, there is a good woman behind every successful man, and successful men like Arafinwe have many appreciateve women behind them. teehee!
