I loved this. Arafinwë has always been one of my favourite characters and I really love your portrayal of him :)

This is a wonderful short story about the (later) King of the Noldor. It really makes me understand and appreciate him more. I am glad he did get to marry Eärwen eventually! And even more glad because if he hadn't we never would have had Finrod or Galadriel!

I love the signs of personal defiance and rebellion, and that they are disciplined but there to be seen by those who look sufficiently closely. It seems that Finarfin has found more than just Elwe's silver-haired daughter to love and honor among the Teleri, and his is becoming as much a Teler as he is Noldo.

Have loved this since I first read it.

You have to feel for the poor ellon. It must have been very hard for him to leave behind the more carefree life of the Teleri for the more restricting life that was his as a scion of the House of Finwë. Reading this one gets a real sense of how different the Elvish cultures were from one another. I wonder how Eärwen must have felt when she came to the Finwë's court as a new bride. There must have been a lot of cultural misunderstandings on both sides at first. Good one, Ellie.

Author Reply: The difference in the cultures is fun to explore nad it would have been diffiuclt to move from oen to the other and be accepted socially.

Ah, what it is to be a prince and have obligations and duties to ones people.
He might not end up living by the sea but he does get his Earwen in the end!

Author Reply: At least he does get the prize he most desired. I wonder how different things might have turned out if he could have gotten his house by the sea and the care free life as well.

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Aww, this was beautiful! And I so agree with Finarfin! Give me a Teleri any time, they're the coolest of all Elves.

It's a good thing that we alreadyl know he will gain the hand of his Swanmaiden, eventually. Small wonder he came to his senses and turned back when the others left.
