Man, I didn't know the Marshes were *that* bad - that's a scary thought! But then the midges were alive and so were the hobbits more so and the very stillness of this land would be unsettling.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I read somewhere that Tolkien was thinking of his experiences in the First World War when he wrote about the Dead Marshes. May God bless you too.
