| I can so see Legolas singing something like this! Yes, he would grieve leaving what he fought for for so very long. Author Reply: Hello Larner, he would grieve indeed. Poor sod. Imagine going to all the trouble of rejuvenating Ithilien, only to have to leave before having the chance to really enjoy the transformation? And knowing the reason you were leaving was because a friend had died, and there was nothing left to hold one there? Of course, then he would have had more grief when Gimli died ... Oh, dear! I always find talking about the Fourth Age (or the latter part of its first century) so depressing! Anyway, I'm glad you approve of Legolas' lament. Thanks for R & R-ing, M ;) | |

| Well I think you did a rather good job of it... Author Reply: Hello curiouswombat, thanks very much! My vocabularly doesn't normally stretch to the more elegant turn of poetry (nor does my imagination), but I was sorely tempted to give it a bash this evening. Poor Legolas. It must have been terribly wrenching for him to leave all he'd known and sailed off into the West- even if Valinor was a beauty waiting to be discovered. It's always seemed so unfair to me that he was afflicted by the sea-longing. Still, I suppose it was the only way to bring home just how potent the call of the gulls was, and just was it cost Legolas to ignore it for so long. *sniffle* Thanks for R & R-ing! M ;) | |

| Hello, my dear cousin, and how nice to see another one from you! Quite well done showing the Sea-longing of Legolas. Now about longing more for Hollow Victory? :) Namarie, God bless, Your berry :) Author Reply: Hello cheeky Took, thanks for the feedback on this. I find this type of poetry quite difficult to write normally. I just don't seem to have the knack of expressing what I want to in such an intelligent, cryptic manner; and so I usually don't bother. But I'd just been listening to an Enya album (some sort of 'Best Of' collection) and one of her LoTR songs came on. The beauty of it struck me, it was so melancholy, but so achingly lovely that I came over all elvish (unusual for me, hobbit that I am). So I really had to try something elvish-y. 'Try' being the operative word ... I'm afraid the next chapter of Hollow Victory may be a couple of weeks yet. I really have to try and get the next chapter of my crossover up, which is disgracefully late by now, and it takes precedence at the moment (if I could only find the inspiration to complete it).
