Nice to see the hints of the real Freddy beginning to make themselves obvious.

Ah, poor sick Frodo, I hope he's feeling better soon. I'm glad to see that Fatty has finally come round and realized what an ass he's been all these years.

:D

Author Reply: Poor Fatty... He only became an ass for many years because I forgot all about the estrangement I created. :-\ Bad Obelia! It's taken me all this time to figure out a way to work him back in!

another great chapter :)

i know this part has already been mentioned, but it was my favorite part...

“You’re all I’ve got, and I expect you to take proper care of yourself. Understand?”

Frodo nodded wordlessly, and smiled slightly.

awww ^_^

Author Reply: Hee, I'm rather fond of that part myself. :) Thanks for reviewing.

This is great!

I loved Pippin's terse and somewhat biased account of what happened, right down to checking his teeth for sharpness. (I wouldn't worry Pip, I'm quite sure Lotho found them more than sharp enough.)

And best of all, Fatty has now firmly rejoined Frodo's camp, where he belonged all along! Yay, Fredegar!

Author Reply: Thanks! Yes, I like to assume that Pippin's teeth were more than up to the challenge. ;)

Heat exhaustion! That's a terrible thing to do to a poor hobbit!

Loved Pippin apologizing for the fact that his teeth weren't sharp enough to hurt Lotho.

Author Reply: That's true... but with all the terrible things done to hobbits on a daily basis by fanfiction writers, at least I'm not alone. ;)

Hello! I wanted to leave the first review, but I see that shirebound beat me to it.

“Confounded headstrong tweenagers,” Bilbo muttered. “They never listen, it seems.” The old hobbit rested a hand lightly on Frodo’s bare chest to get his attention. “Listen to me now, boy.” Bilbo leaned forward and waited for the blue eyes to focus on him. “You’re all I’ve got, and I expect you to take proper care of yourself. Understand?”

Ah, this is my favorite line. Bilbo and Frodo's love for each other. . . the whole foundation of the series of events that took Frodo to Mount Doom. This is the best part of visiting the Shire--seeing the love bewteen those two. That's what I think is the best, anyway. And it's beautifully portrayed here.

Great chapter and I can't wait for the next one! Thank you Obelia Medusa!

Author Reply: Aww, thank you. That love is my favourite, too, and I don't even plan to focus on that in the beginning. I'm glad I did though; I find it very rewarding. :)

Author Reply: Ooops, I meant "didn't even plan".

"The old hobbit smiled slightly. The Gaffer hated to show affection in front of others, even to his own children, but a keen observer could discern those whom he held in esteem. It never failed to astonish Bilbo how Frodo managed to engender such loyalty and affection everywhere he went."

Awwww, that old softie. I like the idea of Frodo being held 'in high esteem'. And little Pippin's outburst was just too adorable.

Author Reply: Well, who *wouldn't* hold Frodo in high esteem? 0:-)
