Glad to see him recover at last and the friendship restored amidst himself, Folco, and Fatty. And good to see the Dwarves arrive.

How wonderful to find updates to one of my favorite WIPs after being away for so long. I'm just wallowing in new fic today...

What a time poor Frodo was having. I love Pippin's hiding with him.

And Dwarves. I always adore Dwarves visiting Bilbo in the Shire...

on to the next chapter...

Author Reply: Ach, you deserve all the updates you can possibly get, after what you went through! Posting another one in a minute...

No more jumping around, I'll be following this story here from now on, lol! ;)

What a few horrible days for Frodo! I've never had heat stroke and now I'm very glad indeed. It is good to see Fatty has been accepted back into the fold and that he's fast become friends again with Folco and Frodo.

Interesting company. Can't wait to see what they've come for.

Author Reply: I've never had heat stroke either, but I remember learning about it in Girl Guides, for some reason. Who would have thought my Guiding days would come in so handy for hobbit fanfic writing? ;)

Poor Frodo really took a beating with that heat stroke. I'm sure Bilbo must have been quite worried. You showed Frodo's disorientation very well. Thanks for posting another great chapter. :D

Author Reply: Thanks for reviewing! :)

Well, THAT was well done!!!!! What a cool way to show all your characters coming in and interacting with Frodo. It was so great to realize that we knew who was who, because of the dialogue. That was a tour de force indeed.

And I want to say thank you for a lovely piece of h / c writing, highlighting the sincere love between the characters. I appreciate the way that you never get so, ah, strangely graphic like some writers who focus on the minor and sometimes weirdly chosen details. I won't mention any names here, but again, thanks for not introducing us to a detailed toilet scene or some such tangent.

Here's one of my favorite moments:

“Why, just think of my adventure with the Dwarves,” Bilbo continued. “We weren’t much to look at, and yet we prevailed. What do you think would have happened differently if we’d been five feet tall and strong as ponies?”

Frodo looked blank. “What?”

Bilbo snorted. “Nothing, of course."

In my own writing, I love to include, without getting didactic, some idea for a reader to think over. This is a wonderful example. Great point about the size and strength not making any difference. As I said, you should give up this biology stuff and write full time. You've got the touch to do great things.

Thank you!!!! Thank you for that lovely scene!!! Now, is Frodo going to have a hangover? Or are they going on a new adventure?

Love

Author Reply: Wow, thank you so much. I'm afraid I'll be sticking with the biology stuff long-term, though, even though it does impinge annoyingly on my fanfic writing time! :P Heh, I don't think I could get particularly graphic about the medical stuff even if I wanted to. I tend to put myself in the "shoes" of whatever character whose point of view I'm using, and I'm extremely squeamish when it comes to myself! ;) I'd much rather focus on the feelings and interactions.

That's interesting about including ideas for the reader to think about. I've never thought about that, or done it deliberately, but I like it!

Wow, what an awful bout of heat sickness! It's a relief that Frodo wasn't alone, and I love the teensy and adorable scenes with Pippin. And now... Dwarves!

:D

Author Reply: Oh, I could never have Frodo alone while he's sick. The "c" is the best part of h/c! ;)
