Oh,please update this soon. I am hooked, and am on pins and needles wondering what happened to Bilbo!

I just started reading this a few days ago, when I found it over at the MEFA site, and I'm already up to the last chapter. I also read your first of the trilogy, Adrift. Great job on the story, and looking forward to more, including the last story in the trilogy!

Author Reply: Thank you so much! I am a terribly slow updater, sorry. There are only a few more chapters, though, so hopefully I can pick up the writing pace in this final stretch!

Hi
I just recently found your story and have been reading it for the last 3 days. I have really enjoyed your characterizations especially Frodo and the Gamgees. Sam has always been my favorite! I also really enjoy reading prequest stories LOTR always made me think about how the relationships came to be. I am really enjoying your version of events and hope you update soon those awful SB's can't be allowed to have Bag End much longer! I do hope Bilbo gets back soon!

Author Reply: Thank you so much! And Bilbo is coming back very soon...

What a lovely update! I can just imagine Frodo's despair and sense of abandoment as he comes to realize that Bilbo very well might not be coming back. He says he isn't surprised, but you know it has to sting, and that he's only saying that to try to make it hurt less. Poor dear, but I would strangle Bilbo when he returns if I could! What is taking him so long? The memory of the dwarf-spool was beautiful, and shows how good a mother Primula was.

Author Reply: Things are definitely not going to be simple when Bilbo returns. Thanks for reviewing, as always.

And poor Frodo needs that hug just then.

Author Reply: Poor Frodo needs a lot of hugs!

Well, I hate to see poor Frodo so down in the dumps--he's still assuming Bilbo's gone for good, poor lad. Having been sick, and had S.-B.s on his back, and everything, it's no wonder he's reverted to his old depression.

I'm glad you said Bilbo's returning soon--I hope it was something dire that kept him away. Saradoc and Esmeralda will find it hard to forgive him if not.
But I worry--Frodo's malaise and feelings of abandonment may mean that he, too, will find it hard to forgive Bilbo.

I loved Merry in this. He's still dogging Frodo's steps, and he'll keep on dogging Frodo's steps until a pack of Uruk-hai drag him off kicking and screaming in the wrong direction!

Author Reply: I love exploring the (possible) history of Merry's relationship with Frodo. Who better to take on a quest to save Middle Earth? :D

Frodo fairly melted under Pippin’s adoring gaze.

“This is one of those special spools, Frodo-lad. This one just wasn’t meant to have thread on it.”

Oh my, what a heartwarming, heartbreaking chapter. Pleeeeeeeze let them find that will, or bring Bilbo back, sooooon!

*paces*

Author Reply: I don't know where all this is coming from; I certainly didn't set out to inflict all this angst on poor Frodo! But, he doesn't have much longer to suffer. :)
