The Making of a Ringbearer II: Anchored  by Henna Gamgee 3 Review(s)
GamgeeFestReviewed Chapter: 57 on 11/23/2007
Ouch! That’s got to sting. Bilbo certainly does have some cleaning up to do: get back Bag End, kick out the S-Bs, get another will, get back the Ring, and most importantly, win back Frodo’s trust. That last one will be the hardest, especially since Frodo refuses to return to Hobbiton with him. Frodo can’t really be blamed of course. His reasons are sound, as far as he’s concerned, but the real reason is that he just doesn’t want to risk being abandoned and hurt again. More miserable times are ahead for them both, it seems. At least we know it will eventually be resolved.

Author Reply: I do so hate writing the miserable times, I don't think they'll drag on for much longer.

Oh dear! Poor Frodo, and poor Bilbo! After all this time, it's going to take more than just telling one another their stories to fix things. I can completely understand Frodo's feelings here: at his age, everything is all or nothing at all, and he can't quite believe there is a middle ground between tying Bilbo down or "letting" him be "free".

And I am just imagining Lobelia's face when Bilbo comes home--AGAIN!

Author Reply: We shall take a little break from Frodo and his tweenaged angst next chapter... ;)

Foolish young Hobbit. He's just cut out both his own heart and Bilbo's, and doesn't realize it. And he thinks he's doing Bilbo good?

He'll learn, soon, I hope.

Author Reply: Yup, he'll learn.
