Beneath Strange Stars  by Larner 69 Review(s)

Beautiful short story. I can almost imagine a cute rosy cheeked plumpy elfling with her wide starry eyes describing the periannath to her amme... adorably cute!

Solemnly Livwen nodded. “But, what does mortal mean?”

How sad she will be when first Bilbo and then Frodo have to go at last!

But on the other hand she will always have happy memories she can remember them by. And without a relationship between those three their lives would have been much duller, I think.

Author Reply: At least the partings she will know from Bilbo and Frodo, and Sam and in time Gimli as well, will be blessed, and not marked by the too common grief and shock and pain known by those who die in the mortal lands. And you are surely right--all three lives are fuller for their friendships!

I would imagine some of those in the Undying Lands would have been a bit shocked to see two hobbits get off the ship.

Author Reply: Oh, but I so agree, Tari! Thank you!

Sweet little story! I love the description of Frodo's fea. :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: I am certain it felt rather tattered and torn at the time. At least it had the chance to heal completely. Thanks so!

Oh, my.

Heart-wrenching. And yet so sweet.

Author Reply: I'm so glad you think so, Lindelea! Hope to have the feedback on Ch. 1 back to you tonight. Busy day!

Wow! What a powerful start. Redemption for all including Melkor. I love the way you portrayed Eru and look forward to reading more.

Author Reply: Yes, even Melkor was beloved by Atto, I believe. As for how I portrayed Eru--well, He is more than we can ever fully appreciate. Thanks so much, Tari!

Wonderful riddle. I recognise the answer... my birthday present! ...falls among these.

Author Reply: Indeed!

I purchased a desk that has shelves built into its sides, and my set now resides with a small pocket dictionary and a Bible on one of those shelves, just where they are on hand for when I need them! Heh!

Thanks so!

"the greatest means to spend one’s leisure"

Well, my guess is that you are writing about books! They would fit in perfectly.

Wonderfully done!

Author Reply: Oh, indeed you have unraveled the clues! As a bibliophile of the first order, how could I write my riddle poem about anything else? Heh! Thanks so, Andrea!

I will have to start reading from the beginning as soon as I finish what I am reading now. I don't think I've read any of it before. I'm so glad to see postings from you. Nothing much seems to be happening since we lost Fiondel. (I still can't believe he's gone and hope the rest of his story will be posted.)

I tried to email the moderators, but got no response. I would like to contribute to the cost of keeping SOA on line.

Author Reply: It's a mixed series of stories, so I hope you enjoy them.

We all miss Fiondil! I don't know if Alassiel and Ellie would need to finish his last story before posting it. I hope they have the chapters as he sent them archived.

Author Reply: By the way--this is the third time you've replied to this chapter! Heh!

A great riddle which fits beautifully in Tolkien's world.

Author Reply: Thank you!
