Ooh, whilst this is very sweet in itself, it also comes across quite chilling almost and foreboding with the heavy emphasis on Luthien's fate -not to say thats a bad thing, I think it works extremely well and highlights the 'star-crossed love' notion perfectly. A great take on how life never goes as we expect it to!

Dear Linda: This is a lovely story. It is very descriptive and introspective at the same time. My only criticism is of what was probably a typo--you wrote, "Whatever had processed her to think such a thing...." I believe you meant "possessed." Otherwise, your story is flawless. As I recall, Tolkien wrote that Arwen did not truly fall in love with Aragorn until she met him again at Lorien, years later. But it was indeed love at first sight for Aragorn, and as I recall, Arwen did not reject him completely out of hand even at their first meeting in Imladris. As you implied here, perhaps at some level she was already taking an interest in him. As usual, you have done an excellent job of writing. The description is good, Arwen and Aragorn are both in-character and sympathetic, and this brief tale is just a pleasure to read. Thanks for writing and posting it. Sincerely, Darkover

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review and for pointing out the typo which I've now fixed.I'm delighted that you like this story so much!As Tolien said Arwen laughed less after this first meeting I feel that something must have stirred her heart.
