Going Home  by Ellie 5 Review(s)

A terrible thing, to come home to such a greeting from his father! At least Elarie's family is better prepared to accept them, and Ecthelion's mother was able to see his reaction to the fountain. Now, if his atar can find healing for himself....

Lovely.

Author Reply: Yes, if only his father could find healing for himself...

Wonderful story, Ellie. Yes, it absolutely makes sense that Elarie sympathizes with Wilyariel; I like that you say that no one returns from war unchanged.
I just hope Ecthelion's father will soon realize how great man his son is.

Author Reply: I think it is true that no one is unchanged by war. When I figure out what it would take for Ecthelion's father to look on his son with pride, I will write about it and add another chapter to the story.

Hi Elli,
I like this story very much, no, I love it! It´s so sad. You have captured the feelings so well. I can understand the reactions of Ecthelion´s adar, in a way. He must first heal and forgive himself. Hope this will happen soon. Poor Ecthelion! He and his family deserves to be happy again. Thank you for a wonderfull story. Lai

Author Reply: I'm pleased you like this story so much! :-) :-)

Ecthelion and his family do deserve to find happiness again. I hope that one day his atar will heal enough to allow himself a new realtionship with his son.

So, not all the Re-born are received with open arms, it makes sense in a way,but not in others. I can't see Namo or Irmo releasing Re-born without somewhere for them to go where they will be welcomed. I can understand there being resentment for those being Re-born before others, more 'deserving'.
For a Re-born to be attacked by his own family in this way is a bit extreme, it would be interesting to see what transpires from this with regard to Ectelion's father.
At least they did find a much better reception from his wifes family.

Author Reply: Ecthelion and his wife had a place to go as Reborn - to their's son's house on Tol Eressea, but they left it after 25 years and went to Tirion, hoping to rejoin their families there. Ecthelion's atar has many issues to overcome within himself before he will allow himself to accept his eldest son back. I may eventually write about that time when they can get back together. I'll see what the muse inspires me to do :-)
