Oh, in this case he did prove himself far better than any had imagined! Good look at Pippin the Responsible.

Author Reply: Hello again,

ah yes. In this chapter, the fun is 'vorbei' and reality is about to bite our grave little soldier in a big way. But I think, after all that's happened, he's more prepared to fight now - and more prepared to die, if necessary.

Thank goodness it wasn't!

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

Of course he was more than the Fool of a Took!

But the Fellowship needed a "fool" like Pippin to lighten their hearts, to keep on going and not giving up! Who knows how far they would have come without Pippin at their side!

Author Reply: Hello Andrea,

my thoughts exactly! Faramir would be dead for a start, if it hadn't been for Pippin. And who would have lightened the Fellowshp's spirits and given them the heart to continue if Pippin hadn't been there? Methinks things might have been very different otherwise ...

Thanks for R & R-ing, m'dear,

M ;)

Yea, Pippin - you will indeed prove yourself!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Hello Antane,

he did indeed prove himself. Why, even a troll couldn't flatten his desire to prove his worth.

But that's Tooks for you. Persistent beyond reason. Just like you ...

*sniggers*

Thanks for R & R-ing, my bloom,

M ;)

Ooh, this gave me chills. I had never though that Pippin would be looking to prove himself in the Siege of Minas Tirith. Slightly obvious in hindsight. Good story!

Author Reply: Hello AzureSkye,

chills? Really? Excellent! Then it worked better than I thought it would ;) I think that Pippin probably was looking to prove that he could be more than a burden to his friends, and wanting to justify his insistence on accompanying Frodo on the Quest in the first place after the Council of Elrond. Especially after his little mishaps in Moria (chucking that stone down the hole in the floor and alerting the orcs to the Fellowship's presence) and en route to Helm's Deep (when he looked into the Seeing Stone).

Poor wee mite ...

Thanks for R & R-ing,

Kara's Aunty :)
