Ring-bearer  by Kara's Aunty 4 Review(s)
LarnerReviewed Chapter: 7 on 6/19/2011
Ah--excellent reasoning here! YES! That's our Sam!

Author Reply: Hello Larner,

glad you think so! Thank goodness for Sam's ingrained hobbit sense - the Ring never really stood a chance against it - and especially not against Sam's love and concern for his poor friend!

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

Bravo, Sam! What a treat to read on Father's Day too. Bravo to you, too, cousin, for such a neat little piece here! :) Love Sam's reasoning, truly showing love for master and plain hobbit-sense.

Namarie, God bless, Your bloom :)

Author Reply: Hello bloom,

thought you might like Sam's. It's stuffed full of plain hobbit sense (or as stuffed full of it as a drabble could possible be) and it's meant to reflect his use of the love he bore his master to resist the tawdry, inferior pull of the Ring (inferior pull at least in Sam's case, his affection for Frodo being stronger than the Ring's empty promises).

Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

Frodo needed him. Him, not some Ring-addled halfwit who'd lost every ounce of hobbit sense!

As if he'd ever claim anything responsible for tormenting his poor master.

Wonderful!

Author Reply: Hello shirebound,

thanks very much! It does seem like a very Sam-ish response to the temptation of the Ring (at least I think so), using his love of others to see him through !a strategy that undoubtedly aided Frodo too). It must have been a terrible trial for the little gardener, though, with Mount Doom being visible and the Ring's power increasing greatly in kind. Poor Sam! Poor Frodo!! I don't know how either of them managed it.

Thanks for R & R-ing,

M ;)

Is this it? A delightful series! Thought-provoking and wonderfully understated.

no, there are another two drabbles to go. But what lovely comments. I'm so glad you've enjoyed them so far!
