At least he is realistic enough to recognize the ridiculous figure he cuts in those clothes, and has enough self-esteem to realize that he's not belittled by this, and it's okay for all, including himself, to laugh--and then just get on with what is necessary. Lovely tale here! Author Reply: The last scene is a sort of control exercize to see when he has learned in this story =) Lesson one: No matter how you look like, or what the others think, only that you know who you are is important. Lesson two: A title does not make a man better than others, and only the one who can be critical to himself and laugh at himself deserves it. =) Thank you for your reviews, I'm glad you liked the story!

Thank you for posting this Mirach. I enjoyed it very much and will return to ponder it again. Two characters that we rarely see together. I like your take on Tom. Author Reply: Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the story!

I know no fear. Just the borders of my land, for they are the borders of me. What a perfect description of explanation of who Tom is. And what a marvelous ending! I enjoyed this story very much. Author Reply: Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed the story! I enjoyed your reviews as well =)

A song of warmth to counter the song of the coldness of death. Most interesting! (And I think you will find my story on Monday interesting! Heh!) Author Reply: Oh, is it another story about Tom Bobmadil? There were none for some time, and now it seems everybody has remembered about him =) But I'll let it be a surprise...

The wights are nasty critters, and it seems this is the same who later caught four Hobbits. Certainly the MO is the same! Heh! Now, to see how Tom comes to his aid. Author Reply: You mean Mode of Operation? Yes, although it's quite possible that it's the same for all barrow-wights, including the same song. Maybe they are not very inventive, those nasty critters =)

As Merry found himself experiencing the death of one of the inhabitants who'd been buried in the barrow where the Hobbits found himself, so Aragorn is experiencing his own ancestor's death, eh? Most interesting. And I love the use of the movie speech. Perfect for it! And the dead man felt the movement of his own bier, eh? Interesting. Poor guy. Author Reply: Yes, Merry's experience was the inspiration for this trip into the wars with Angmar =) But it was not king Arveleg who felt the movement of his own bier, and putting him into the barrow, that was Aragorn's mind, because he was not dead despite reliving Arveleg's last moments. It must have felt like being buried alive, poor guy! Thank you for the review! I'm glad you liked also the movie speech, I didn't feel like writing some inspiring speech of my own when this one was just perfect.

I'm enjoying this tale so much. You weave it as beautifully as Tom weaves his songs. Author Reply: Thank you very much! Although personally I think that there are better poets than Tom, he just sings what comes to his mind :D

Such inner strength in this man! That was a very exciting chapter. Author Reply: Thank you very much! Aragorn just is a synonym of "inner strength" to me...

That is a truly powerful chapter - and how well that speech fits in there. Author Reply: Thank you very much for the review! I don't usually use movie quotes, but it is a *good* speech! =)
