The Tower of the Cunning Mind  by Larner 3 Review(s)

So that's how Saruman got the idea of going multi-color! Really, he was rather vain; white was not good enough for him, or just maybe not his color. Perhaps, if the Valar had sent him to Middle-earth as Saruman the Orange, all that treachery with Sauron might have been avoided.

Good work, as always; I am enjoying this look into Curumo's cunning mind.

He would need no others of any hue -- Chilling.

Author Reply: Oh, I agree. He'd become so arrogant and dismissive of others by this time.

I've thought his appearing in many colors symbolized his "getting above himself"...attempting to transcend the divine even, or give it his own definition. Break down the truth, and it is no longer truth.

Author Reply: Oh, love this evaluation of Saruman. And you are right that in trying to break down the truth we manage too often to destroy it. Thanks so, Armariel!
