both of whose Lights had been brightly polished by the Ring that had sought to tarnish them instead. What an interesting thought. I do believe that by the end Frodo had become a candle, set afire by Light and Dark, by his love for all Middle-earth for which he was suffering and by God's love for him, and also burning upon the wheel of fire, a figure 'clothed in flame' as Sam saw in the Tower. But I hadn't thought of Sam's light being polished as well, but indeed by his sacrificial love, he would have shone brighter. Evil defeats itself when it sought to destroy those who opposed it but instead brought out their hidden strengths. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Another sad but willed choice. Alas for them both who were created for such light and greatness and forsook them for black night instead. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Sad, but it was his own choice. He could have indeed chosen to remain light-bearer but did not. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Finally, finally getting to this, sorry it's been so long! This is most interesting. I knew Elbereth made the stars but hadn't thought of the planets and that all those around her took part in that. Neat! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

It is lovely to see Frodo get the honour he deserves so richly. Author Reply: He and those I believe he considered brothers of the heart all deserved so much honor, so I try to make certain they get it at intervals! Heh! Thanks so, Linda.

What an ethereal, magical scene. Author Reply: Again, I've taken one scene I wrote long ago and looked at it from the point of view of those approaching the glade, come to greet the Ringbearer. Thank you for the response, and thank Soledad for reminding me of the name of the Suruli, who were imagined by Tolkien as indicated in the Books of Lost Tales.

Isn't that just the kind of man Aragorn was. He was a humble man rather than an arrogant one, which is why he was so loved by all. Author Reply: I so agree, Tari!
