| I last read this story many years ago, but it clearly stuck with me. I make a reference to a 'Smith of the Noldor who knew Narvi and Celebrimbor' in my new fic 'Import Duty', just posted to this site. | So, I began reading this when you started posting it, but life got in the way and I forgot about it. Now, during one of the worst weeks of my life (the well-liked French teacher and academic team adviser (I'm the co captain of the team) announced that he was going on medical leave--earlier this year, another beloved teacher died suddenly, so we're all shocked and worried that it's going to happen again, plus I'm getting closer to having to make a college decision, but every time I consider my options, I feel even more stressed and confused :( ) I started reading it again and it (as weird as it sounds) gave me some peace in this mess of a time that even bad things can turn for the good :) I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story; it gives a different perspective than many other stories. | He would tell Elrond’s last fosterling the tale of the armor and much else. And when the time came he would accompany Elrond West, and at last accept the pardon of the Valar, assured he had done the best he could to help fight the evil loosed upon Middle Earth for the last three Ages of the Sun. How wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed this noble smith's story, and your telling of it. Author Reply: And I love imagining that one of the Noldor who didn't take part in the kinslaying wished to make a positive difference in Middle Earth, and in the end returned feeling he'd met his goal. The realization that in the movies Aragorn wore the same armor to the Black Gate that Elendil had worn as he died has been niggling at me, and I loved revisiting the Sword of Kings once more!
