Another fine chapter - though I did get a wee bit lost at the beginning - thinking I'd missed a chapter or two. I even went back to see.

I loved Haldir as grandpa... this was such fun to read. And you covered the time passing in a neat way.

I love his son. Great time seeing him and the love between father and son.

Now -- if we could just keep evil away from them. Drat. I don't think it's possible.

Author Reply: I know that the beginning of the chapter was a bit confusing, but it did help explain the time elapsed. Haldir is a fun grandpa and a tolerent one, too. It is amazing what hundreds of years of being dad can do to change a guy. LOL!

I'm glad you like his son. He's a lot like his dad which can be both pleasing and frustrating.

Unfortunately for Haldir, history is catching up with him...

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

This is so sad! I'm glad he chose to make his life there and enjoy the pleasures of wife, children and grandchildren, but to see the end coming... He knew it would come, but now it is on his doorstep, and he has even more reason to fight the encroaching darkness.

Author Reply: He does have every reason to fight now. He also has more warriors than he had before with sons to fight at his side, but he likewise he has more to lose. We'll see what happens next soon enough...

Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing!

So, Haldir got a big family? :D It is funny to imagine him as baby-sitter. :D

But now I am frightened for all of them. The end must come, and Haldir knows it too... :(

Author Reply: Kids that small are a lot more difficult to issue orders to. It was fun putting him in such a predicament. LOL!

Haldir is in a tough situation knowing that they could only hide from the inevitable for so long...

Nice family picture there. SIX children?! At least he seems to be enjoying himself.

Must be terrible sitting waiting for the doom you know is coming and can do nothing to prevent.

I just realized I never left my review for the last chapter. I enjoyed him putting the Tatyai in his place.

Author Reply: Elves in the Third Age don't have "big" families any more but the early elves were busy trying to populate the planet knowing that there is safety in numbers. Even in Valinor this was the case.

I think Haldir has planned and prepared as much as possible for what he knows is coming and is having to just accept that as best he can. But...will it be enough when the history books say otherwise?

I'm pleased you enjoyed Haldir putting the Tatyai in their place. You know he enjoyed that immensely. LOL!

Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing!

Ah - a very good time bridging chapter - we know it has passed, we know what has been happening, and we have moved on to the next phase - well written.

Author Reply: Thank you very much for that :-)

There were too many family events to cover adequately with many chapters so this was the best way I could think to move the story along and still clue the reader in on good times that were had by all. :-)

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Lovely portrait of the happy daeradar!

So many young children and pregnant ellith. The imminent addition of a large number of refugees ... most likely putting pressure on the food supply.

Not to mention Morgoth's creatures.

Oh dear. Has anyone called you an evil author yet?

Author Reply: well...when it rains, it pours, right? And there is soemthing else that you didn't factor into the evilness of the equation whose many variables you have laid out and even Haldir won't realise it for a few chapters yet. I won't tell of course, but you will see it soon enough and it will rankle him just as much as the other variavbles if not more so, probably more so. Confused? Wait a couple of chapters or three and then you'll see. Muhwahahahaha

You are the first to call me evil for this story. I've been labeled such for other stories and it was probably well-deserved. :-)

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Hope you are still speaking to me after this reply :-)

Time does move forward, and the attacks coordinated from Morgoth's headquarters will come eventually. At least this people is as protected as it can be for the moment, and all is in motion to do what can be done against the dire wolves and what other creature will accompany and follow them.

Love seeing the family life they now know! Stuck until the women come back caring for little ones! Heh!

Author Reply: The good Captain deserves to do some time babysitting. It is good for him - so say mothers everywhere when big tough guys get saddled with the kids. LOL!

Haldir has done all he can in preparation. He will find out soon enough if it was enough...

hey ellie,
Nice glimpse into Haldirs life. Wow 6 kids!! In any age, that's alot. I feel a bit sad for Haldir though, it must be excruciating knowing that armaggedon is coming and not being able to do any thing about it.

Author Reply: I felt he deserved a few hundred years of joy and it seems to me like he took advantage of the peace and familial bliss :-)

It has to be very difficult for him knowing what he does and worst of all now knowing WHEN anything will actually happen nor how much he will live to see happen.
