Hi Linda:would the man in grey be a certain wizard that we know and love so well?
I hope Aragorn,Faramir and the Golden Hall survive Éomer,s worry. Lets hope Lothiriel gives birth soon. Love the story, can't wait for the next chapter.LOL Galathil

I read the chapter before the quote and of course was reminded of one of our most famous legends - The Sword in the Stone. LBJ

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I think a lot of legends revolve round swords in trees or stones.

In the original it was Odin himself who left the sword in the tree, as I remember it. But who in Middle Earth might have done so? Gandalf or Saruman, or a Maia sent by Manwe or Orome, perhaps?

Poor Eomer. Good strategy to distract him and keep him busy!

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.Your guesses are on the right track and I read somewhere that Tolkien was influenced by the story of Odin as wanderer. Eomer will certainly find plenty of distraction.
