| I haven't read any of the Lothariel stories; not much into it I suppose. But this certainly fits well. After all, why should two strangers be suddenly in love? Even Faramir and Eowyn were not "in love at first sight"; they developed that love after the feelings they shared in the Houses. So this works very well. It also fits snugly with your interpretation of LoTR after the war. And you snuck in some wry humour as well; love the falling over the night shirt.
