Christmas at Edhellond: An Elf Academy Tale  by Fiondil 10 Review(s)

At that rate I'm tempted to ask what poor Finrod did to you. First he was shot, then Glorfindel attacked him, and now that? Poor guy. At least he seems to have been lucky and was found in time.

Good to see that the three Amigos have made new friends. They have really come a long way since their arrival – more so than any other Elves.

The more I hear about that storm, the more suspicious it certainly becomes. Hopefully, Daeron is only a bit paranoid after everything that happened, but knowing you, that might be a vain hope. There's too much going on we don't know anything about.

Author Reply: It does seem like this is a "Poor Finrod" type of story, doesn't it? *grin* But what happens to him is a natural consequence of all that went before, including his choosing to return to Middle-earth when the Valar aksed him if he would go. And there may be more to the storm than meets the eye or not. Such is the ambiguity of life. It may be made clearer in a later inatallment of the story as certain pieces are played. We'll have to see.

At any rate, thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

Poor Finrod. That was certainly unexpected. As for the sling - hah - we all know he wouldn't wear it. (My own daughter is supposed to be wearing one now for a shoulder injury and she is not - and she is not nearly as stubborn as a certain Elf - well, perhaps she is. *g*)

As for the storm and its origin - I've definitely got shivers. I wonder who was the target? I'm thinking Finrod, but you never know. I like Alex so much. I'm certainly hoping nothing happens to his mom.

Great chapter. Fun to read.

Author Reply: Hi Agape. I was supposed to wear a sling after having open-heart surgery and a pacemaker put in but the stupid thing was to impossible and I refused to wear it after the first day. They sent me home with it anyway and I never wore it.

Anyway, it's possible Finrod and Alex were both targets but who can say? At least they found Finrod in time and Alex got out of Wiseman early enough not to be affected by it. And I'm sure his mom is just fine and we'll be meeting her fairly soon.

Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

*plays dramatic music* The plot thickens once again... Am glad that Finrod got found in time! Now that the Enemy appears to be actively trying to sabotage Christmas I'm all on tenterhooks to find out why! Looking forwards to your next update, as always!

Author Reply: Indeed it does, bookworm. And I doubt the Enemy is trying to sabotage Christmas per se, just the Elves and Finrod in particular. I don't think the Enemy really cares about Christmas or any other Mortal holiday all that much. *grin* Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying this and looking forward to more. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

I know I almost never review, but I look forward to your updates. I'm wondering if Alex's mom is important in her own right, as she is also a descendent of Elros. She's always seemed pretty calm and accepting of a son in a very dangerous line of work. Does she have some foresight of her own? Can't wait for Friday.

Author Reply: Hi Silmarien. I'm glad you are enjoying the story. And you are correct that Alex's mom is important in her own right, though in what way remains to be seen. We will meet her briefly in this story but she will be more evident once we get to Elf Academy 3. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I really appreciate it.

Wow, this is creepy. I hate pop up storms. We just had one (not as dangerous or as bad as the one they had.) Glad everyone is safe and hope they don't have any issues with Alex not making it. :/ (trying hard not to babble this time but there is always so many little things that makes my mind go.) siiiiggghh. Any way, great update. :)

Author Reply: It is creepy, Laer, and ominous on many levels. The Enemy is moving. And I hate pop up storms too. We get them often enough in my neck of the woods, though. Anyway, thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Just as I thought it is a nice innocent Christmas tale, you throw in this ominous snow storm. The implications are frightful. Nick should get a medal. Thanks to him they found Finrod before it was too late. I think Finrod needs to do some serious healing. His poor shoulder. It can't be good to constantly injure it again.

Author Reply: Hi obsidianj. Innocent? Moi? LOL! As this is a bridging tale between Elf Academy 2 and 3, much of what happens here will reflect forward and backward to the other parts of the series. And ominous is correct. Nothing is as it seems. Finrod actually needs a nice vacation in Florida lying on a bech where he's doing nothing more strenuous than lifting a Mai-Tai to his lips. LOL! Anyway, I'm sure he'll heal eventually if he just lie low for a while. Thanks for reviewing. It's greatly appreciated.

Now I'm worry. Do we have to wait till Friday? It is like we have our own blizzard, waiting and waiting for Blizzard Fiondil to post. Do the blizzard has name like the huracan? I know, it is not a story related question, but just wanted to know.

Author Reply: Hi Fantasia. No, blizzards aren't named like hurricanes, but they are labeled by the year in which the occurred, so even now, people of a certain age (like myself) will speak of the Blizzard of '66 or '78 and everyone will know of which they speak. And, I'm afraid we'll have to wait until Friday for the next chapter. LOL! Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

Are you sure this should not be sub-titled Fifty Ways to Kill Your King ? You really seem to have it in for Finrod, or your Muse does!

Hm, the Elves are right, this storm coming up so fast is very strange and just why do they want Alex and his mother kept away from Wiseman?

Hope Finrod recovers quickly, again, and that nothing weird happens to the other Elves! Good job Nick called, or was he inspired to do so?

Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: Hi Lynda. It does seem that way, doesn't it? I assure you it's not quite that bad but it's pretty close. He's the most powerful of the Elves in Wiseman and so it makes sense the Enemy would target him more than the others. Perhaps Nick was inspired to call, but I suspect his own goodness and compassion led him to call to assure himself that Finrod had made it home safely as any good friend might do.

Anyway, thanks for commenting. I always appreciate it as you know.

So, someone is playing with the weather again! At least the Valar and Maiar are apparently keeping an eye on things to limit the damage as much as possible.

Author Reply: Apparently, Larner, on both counts. And while we can deplore the former, we can applaud the latter and thank Eru that it is so. Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

Given how I feel about snow, much less blizzards, this is a frightening development. I know the Maier are watching Alex, ect., but I am worried about his Mom. Glad you will post again on Friday.

Other fans replied to my review of the last chapter about the number of bathrooms needed in the new house. I also grew up in a one bathroom house. This is exactly why I believe the new house needs more than two. I certainly agree that multiples can share but extra facilities (toilets) can make such a difference. Just wanted to clear up my reasoning.

Author Reply: Hi UTfrog. Oh, I agree, that having lots of bathrooms is great, but in the real world, most people have to deal with just one or two. I'm sure they'll manage, or most likely add on as I suspect that Vorndur and Ercassė will renovate some of the space into a second master bedroom for themselves.

Anyway, this blizzard is a frightening development and we'll just have to see how it goes.

Thanks for reviewing. It's greatly appreciated.
