And the Darkness Did Not Overcome It  by MP brennan 5 Review(s)

What an encouraging story! I can certainly smypathize with Estel about the *things* in the dark. I've spent sleepless nights because of *things* in the dark. One of my favorite games to play when I'm in bed is that I'm battling *things* that come into my room, namely creatures from LOTR and Star Wars, ghost chickens, and a giant black widow named Grizella. At least I'm not scared of them anymore! I'll try to remember this story next time I have a nightmare.

That was beautifully written. I could almost hear Estel's heart thumping fast in the dark as he tries not to make to much noise lest he awaken those 'things'!

And I love the way Lord Elrond understands what he needs, even if, based on the story, he hasn't had to run to him for comfort before. Nice lesson too.

This is such a great birthday present!

You've captured the fear in someone who is sooo scared! Especially after waking up after a nightmare! I should know! I'm still a scaredy-cat. That feeling of being in the dark and knowing that the "boogy-man" is lurking in the shadows! Your imagination getting the best of you and the fear overcomes you and you run like a bat out of hell to get to the nearest safeguard! Whew!

I like that Elrond did not hide the fact that it was "foresight". Very forthright but still very loving. A wonderful moment between Estel and his Ada. Thanks again my friend!

Author Reply: I'm so glad you liked it! Hope you had a wonderful, nightmare-free birthday!

“Such a small candle,” his ada said, “Yet, look. See how far it reaches? Everywhere it touches, the shadows flee. They cannot stand.”

What a comforting story, full of wisdom and hope.
