Wow this was so touching, so well thought out, so perceptive. I would imagine Faramir to feel some burden with Boromir being the one to go on the Quest and to perish because of it but to bring in another instance in battle and to weave it to the present was ingenious! And the bit about the breastplate! That was a heartrending detail.
I really liked this story a lot. Great job!!!

Such wise words, and ones that Aragorn has undoubtedly had to tell himself many, many times, including when Boromir and Halbarad died in front of him. An emotional picture of that last stand on the bridge.

Guilt and grief are burdens heavier than armor. Hopefully Aragorn has eased Faramir's mind and heart somewhat.

Author Reply: Well said. I like to think that this conversation helped, but I didn't want the path to healing to seem too simple and straightforward.

What a moving story. The action scenes were beautifully written and I could nearly see it happening as you described, in all its destruction and chaos. You give a great glimpse of the sons of Denethor in their roles as warriors, something we don't get to see in canon as much as I wish we had.

You really get to Faramir's heart, and Aragorn's too. I literally winced at Faramir's words. The younger son of Denethor knows a thing or two about carrying burdens for all that he was never a Ringbearer. I hope this talk with Aragorn helped him set this one down...though it seems maybe he's not ready or able to do so. The end is simply haunting.

Wonderful job. Thank you for posting this, and have a great day!

Author Reply: Thank you so much for the lovely review! I'm so glad you enjoyed the imagery and especially glad that you think I captured Faramir and Aragorn. This was my first attempt to really get into Faramir's head, so it's good to know he felt real.
