Oaths of Allegiance  by Linda Hoyland 4 Review(s)

Oh, but I am so glad that you revisited the first story in such a way! Aragorn is right, and particularly for Aragorn's acceptance of the oaths of his new lords--and Faramir in particular. It is time, and past time, for Faramir to serve with a love that is requited from his own Lord.

Author Reply: Thank you. I'm pleased you agree with Aragorn.

Aragorn regarded him with a steely gaze. “Why should the wording not be changed? Does it make the oath less binding?”

“No, my lord, but it goes against tradition and protocol!”

I like this very much. Aragorn has a mind of his own, and won't cling to old ways just because they're old.
