A Sense of Wonder  by shirebound 11 Review(s)

Aww...how fun! I like to think of the twins carving him toys, and of those toys making the Hobbits happy years later. It's always nice to know that your treasured things are also appreciated by others.

Author Reply: It's interesting to imagine Estel's childhood in Rivendell; surely he had toys to play with that weren't swords and bows, just like any child would. I love the idea of hobbits finding them. :)

Oh please tell me there's more to this delightful little ficlit than just this? I can just see Pippin bringing this out during their Morning meal to brighten Frodo' mood just before going to sleep after a long and hard night's trek trough Hollin.

Also exactly what I needed right now too. The CBC said their coverage of the Short Dance from the World Figure Skating Championships would start at 8:30 pm EST. Okay then, boot up the CBC App, click on the Mobile link as I was on the iPadd and...

Nothing.

Retry and same thing. So bop over to Twitter and they had the time wrong and was actually 9:30 instead. Okay then...Tried again and...

You guessed it. Nothing!!

By this time Skating fans across Canada are beginning to get restless. Meanwhile, they get the word out there's tec problems of some sort. No kidding!! By that time I'd moved down here and fired up the laptop, only to get an Adobe Flash Player update message. Not that it mattered, because even after the time it took to do that, thete still was no Ice Dancing livestreamed from Shanghai on my computer screen.

So here it is, 10:58pm EST and the coverage is finally starting...Only close to two hours *and* the first three flights/groups having already skated late. :o/. And the Pairs Short Program starts supposedly at 4 am our time here. After what just happened, I'll more than likely still be up watching the Short Dances!!!

So thank you, thank you, thank you for this delightful and lovely little tale that truly helped distract my frustration for awhile. :o)

Author Reply: Hi, Tigger! *waves* Sorry to hear about the Figure Skating frustration, and glad my little tale could help distract you. Good luck to Canada! :)

This brought a smile, the best stories are so easily seen in the mind. Sweet and funny. Aragorn and Pippin are great together as they care for the others.

Anyone who has watched a child play with toys can feel the joy these two hobbits are feeling as they experiment with Strider's top, haha.

I really liked that Frodo, who is supposed to be so adult and responsible, can show his childlike delight in a spinning toy and Pippin, the group's troublesome tween can be just a little responsible.

Those soft eyes of memory from Aragorn were perfect; I sat for a moment and reminisced about my own long ago and forgotten toy box.

Thank you Shirebound for sharing this little tidbit. It was worth a feast!

Author Reply: What a lovely review! Thank you so much. I'm glad this gentle scene brought up sweet memories for you. I have a few of my childhood toys, and wish I'd saved more.

What a sweet story! Pippin is very thoughtful to think of raising Frodo's and everyone's spirits. :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thank you. Pippin had a lot of time -- on the way to Rivendell and during their stay there -- to assess what was ahead for Frodo, and perhaps think of ways to help relieve his cousin's burden as much as possible.

This is an absolutely lovely story. Our childhood toys do bring remembered joy. The idea of Frodo being able to enjoy simple joys is great.

Author Reply: Thank you so much. When Frodo's happy, I'm happy. :)
