The King's Holiday.  by Linda Hoyland 6 Review(s)

What a lovely escape for the two of them! Knowing the pattern of many of your stories, when Aragorn packed his healing supplies, I feared that there might come a reason for them! Instead, the worst thing that happened was a bit of the kind of proving themselves which they had to do in Tasariel's village. Tales do tend to get a bit "turned" over distance and time, don't they! I could no more see Aragorn taking credit for heroic deeds not his own than I could Samwise Gamgee! Or Faramir, for that matter. It would be fun to be the guard in the corner of the throne room when someday that girl comes to the city and says "Strider" said that I might ask to see the King! And if ever anyone from Tasariel's village comes to the city for one of those interminable festivals, and sees the King and the Steward in a procession! You ought to try writing some of those encounters some time.
I hope that you have had a lovely holiday season. We stayed overnight with my grown son and his wife and family, Christmas Eve into Christmas Day. They have lived in a near-by town, an hour's drive down the road, for the last seven years and the births of their younger two children. Now, his company is downsizing, and the part time job he has been able to find can no longer pay for the lovely home they have built together. So last week they packed up and moved to stay with her parents, near a large metropolitan area two states away, until he can find another good job. I have decided that the positive spin has to be that I have had my turn for seven years, now it will be "the other Grandma's" turn for awhile.
Best Wishes!

A most well-deserved time off in a pleasant place at a beautiful time of year. And a good use for those unwanted beryls! Heh!

Author Reply: Thank you. I'm pleased you liked the use for the beryls.

What fun! I love that Aragorn used the children's game to teach them a few lessons about what being King truly means. And I'm glad he and "Furamir" (LOL!) were able to remain incognito and enjoy their holiday.

And in the meantime, Arwen is no doubt winding trade delegations around her little finger with no effort at all.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted you enjoyed Aragorn and Furamir and the children together and their holiday.

I'm sure Arwen presented him with a most advantageous trade agreement when he returned home.

Sounds like the sort of holiday I need! [Or maybe just the spring blossoms, as it's the dead of winter right now.]

Lovely story! I adore seeing Aragorn and Faramir off together somewhere that is not court. :)

Faramir glanced at Aragorn who was singing merrily without a care in the world.

I love this story so much! What a delightful journey, and especially to know that the lands and people are prospering. LOL, the king being 'tormented' by holidays! May that be his most dire problem as ruler.
