Forging Hope  by Ellie 3 Review(s)

Those recruiters are pretty smarmy. Loved Angadan's reaction when he figures out that Laurehér is actually Arafinwë, King of the Noldor. Too funny. Arafinwë has a difficult decision to make, though. Not telling his wife the truth may keep her and the children safe, but it has to be a wrench for him to dissimulate before her and pretend all is well when it isn't. And he was so happy, too. Probably happier than he's ever been. Too bad.

Author Reply: The recruiters are smarmy, but that most likely was the way of it at that time. Angadan is one of my favorite OCs. I really like the way he turned out.

It is a pity that Finarfin's happiness always seems to be compromised. He really can't get a break. He is far stronger than he realizes though to survive what he has and what he has yet to endure.

Thanks so very much for reading and reviewing. I am most appreciative.

How heartbreaking! His love for his family is so clear. How will he ever explain his decision, without looking like a total cad for abandoning them, even as he tries to protect them?

Author Reply: There is no easy way out of this for him. No matter what he does or says he will suffer for it even if he is doing this for all the right reasons.

Thanks for reading and reviewing! I do appreciate it very much!

At least he is able to see the needs of all and to prepare for them as best he can. And he leaves his mortal wife and children in excellent hands. He is right--he must return now to his proper place with the army.

Author Reply: Arafinwe is described as being the wisest son of Finwe. Even if he did not act wisely, as a knowledgeable outsider might see, early on in the story, he is being wise again now. He does not seem to be able to win no matter what he does. At least he isn't trapped in the village with no news of his army and no way to return to them now that he knows he is king and knows what is the right thing for him to do by his people. I think would have been far worse for him.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I do greatly appreciate it.
