Forging Hope  by Ellie 3 Review(s)

A fulfilling and heartbreaking story. Poor Arafinwe, having found and then lost so much. Reading this I am reminded why mortals should not strive for immortality. Having to endure losses like this for all eternity would be too much.

This is my favorite chapter to date. The meeting with Finwë was unexpected, but I'm glad they were able to speak with one another and come to some understanding. And Námo just rocks. LOL!

The meeting with Aicanáro was bittersweet as well. It's unfortunate that Arafinwë's bond with his children has been severed, but I think Eönwë has the right of it. It's good to see Arafinwë as the king he is rather than as the rather lost Laurehér.

Author Reply: I wrote this chapter long before I ever managed to get Arafinwe "killed off" in battle. I knew that this time of healing would be necessary and how it would affect all parties involved. It is one of my favorite chapters as well.

Eonwe rocks, but he is grim as well in the duties he is called upon to perform. It must hurt him to have to do such things as he did here, even if he never shows the pain of tough love.

Arafinwe is king and behaving as such once again. Unfortunately or fortunately, I really don't know which, he is all too familiar with the roll of hiding his pain and going on.

Thanks so very much for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much1

A heavy cost, to lose that bond with his children in such a manner. But at least two other relationships have been rekindled in a healthy manner, though those two should be dead.

Author Reply: The Halls of Mandos are a place of healing and some spirits do take longer to heal than others. The healing that Finarfin received there went both ways in each instance for his father and his son were both in need of healing as well. It was unfair but justifiable that the bond with the children was lost - just another casualty of this war with Morgoth, I suppose. It is sad though.

Thank you very much for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much!
