| Hi Ellie, I am catching up with your wonderful story. Just letting you know that I am still around and loving Forging Hope. Had to read the whole story, as somehow I missed it. Don't how that happened? I know our king is sad but I think in the end all is going to be ok. Then Ellie I never know, what you are going to through up in your stories. I had always wanted to read a Finarfin love story of the ilk so many other characters get, but I never could find one, so I wrote one myself :-) It took forever (okay 6 years or so) to write this story, so I am glad you are enjoying it. | Those who remain behind really have no clue what those who went to war suffered and will still suffer for some time after. But I think that is true to life anyway and Elves are no different from us Mortals in that regard. Ingwë's reservations about the Númenóreans is prophetic, but obviously his view did not hold sway since we know that some Elves did trade with the Edain. Still, I suspect he will say "I told you so" when the time comes. A lot of emotions being displayed in this chapter and the tensions and prejudices of the various groups is admirably delineated by your deft hand, Ellie. Good chapter. Typo alert: "aide" should be "aid". Author Reply: Those who stayed behind are definitely clueless just as those who went away do not fully understand the hardship experienced by those who left. No one listened to Ingwe in regards to Numenor ad it will come back to bite them. But 3000 years is a long time to wait to find out that you were wrong... Thank you for the compliment on handling the emotions, tension, and prejudices. It had to be tough coming back and having to deal with all of that. | I was a bit curious as to how Eärwen would fit in to this whole... Situation, but it seems everything works out. Kinda. Maybe not. Of course Arafinwë is right, but so are Ingwë and his wife. Time changes things... A lot. It makes me wonder how this Arafinwë reacts when Ar-Pharazon gets all greedy. Oddly enough I feel more sympathetic for Ingwë. Not that I don't feel the same for Arafinwë but it is easier when everything is black and white. One land evil, one land good. One race evil, one good. Damn the gray-ness of the world. Author Reply: Few things are black and white - even in Tolkien's world, and I agree it is extremely frustrating. For the moment, all three kings are correct in their assessment of Numenor. Ingwë is the only one who has guessed that Numenor, which has yet to be established, might be a time bomb. As for Eärwen ... well, we will just have to see in which direction that ball bounces.
