| Settling in can be difficult, but it's normal to have such rocky starts. Been there, done that too many times. Author Reply: Glad this rings true. I keep thinking of my best friend.She and her husband have on biological child and one adopted. when their son, who they adopted before they had their daughter, was little he was constantly telling his dad that he was fired as his parent every time they told him something he didn't want to hear. | |

| Lovely chapter! I wish I had time to quote all the bits I liked! I will start out with this one: The replies he received were full of encouragement but surprisingly short on advice. So true to life, and Esmeralda's advice was something all parents ought to keep in mind, not just adoptive ones. I kept thinking how wise Pippin is. The situation that came up at breakfast was very true-to-life, and Pippin handled it well. I loved the discussion between him and Bandy, and then later between him and Diamond. Though there are rocks in the road, he's doing a good job of driving. | |

| I enjoyed this chapter very much. I don't have children, but hope I would be as wise and patient as Pippin. Author Reply: Pippin is very patient and perceptive when it comes to things like this. After all one of his best contributions to the Fellowship early on was his ability to lighten moods and distract others from their troubles. I think he can see what needs to be done in this way because of his heightened empathy from having an extreme level of the Sight. | |

| LOL! Nicknames for Faramir--I recall thinking I wanted something different for the lad back when almost every fanfic writer used "Farry", and came up with "Fam". But I understand not wanting one; I dislike any nicknames for my own RL name. And after all, Frodo never had a nickname either! Pippin handled Bandy's quite understandable outburst very well, so I think that things are going to work out. I'm quite curious to see what they do come up with (maybe they get some correspondence from Gondor or Rivendell--it might be interesting if Bandy decided to call Pip and Diamond "Ada" and "Nana"). Author Reply: Glad you enjoyed this chapter. I'm having to double check my other stories to make sure I don't give Faramir a nickname in any of them and, if I did, remove it. I think he's proud of that name and wants to keep it intact. I think Pippin is probably happy with that joice too. I hadn't thought of "Ada" and "Nana" but that would be a great idea. Would you mind if I used that? I'm glad you liked the way Pippin handled Bandy's issues. I always felt that Pippin was good at figuring out what was going on in other people's heads and adapting to meet the situation. I think it's part of the Sight. | Having been a stepdaughter and later a stepmother, I know the drill from both sides. Very likely situation! Author Reply: Thanks for the review, Larner. I thought something like this was likely to happen at some point. My best friend's oldest child is adopted and, as I recall, they had a couple of moments where he made the "you're not my parents..." comment. | |
